Steelers Hall of Fame running back Franco Harris dies at 72
RIP Franco, the immaculate reception and you will live forever
PITTSBURGH -- Franco Harris, the Hall of Fame running back whose heads-up thinking authored the "Immaculate Reception," considered the most iconic play in NFL history, has died. He was 72. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/...harris-dies-72 |
He was one hell of a great player and being married to a Yinzer, he still seems to somehow come up in family chat every holiday. Sadly, this year it will be for something different.

I grew up a Steeler fan and always loved Franco. I had the pleasure of meeting him in an elevator (just us two) in Las Vegas many years ago. I got on and there he was.
The dialogue as I remember it: Me: Are you who I think you are? Franco: Who do you think I am? Me: I think you are Franco Harris Franco: That's me. Me: You sure brought me a lot a pleasure as a kid. Franco: That's really great to hear. He shook my hand as he exited. He couldn't have been more pleasant. RIP |
