A 1910 article:

Walter Camp was instrumental in the formation of American Football but his later year insistence that passing was not a good thing for the game was constantly overruled by others. Looks like he took another shot at getting rid of it in this article.

Jeff,

Absolutely correct. So glad he got overruled on a lot of his ideas but he was always thinking of things, not always good ideas but ideas to make others think.

Absolutely! Camp was instrumental in moving the game forward for decades and was an idea machine.

Interesting suggestions. There was a real push to change the game before the 1910 season since 1909 had been a deadly one. One of the major events was the death of Cadet Eugene Byrne from injuries sustained during a game with Harvard. Army cancelled the rest of its season.

The changes were ones that led to the modern game, no more handles on pants, and pushing players through the line, rule changes to allow more passing.

The lower envelope in this pair probably carried tickets to that game.
