'34 Canadian World Wide Gum #28 Ruth

Posted By: runscott
I have several '33 and '34 Goudeys but just picked up a '34 Canadian Ruth that looks real(from my limited experience), but the actual picture is shorter than any Goudeys I have and I don't have any '34 Canadians to compare to. Also, I'm having that "gut feel" problem. Can anyone help out? The seller's a great guy who promised a refund if I didn't like the card. If so, please send me an email and I'll forward a good scan. Thanks. (runscott@bellsouth.net)

The issues are the same size and if this is the same card, he mentioned that it was short.

Posted By: runscott
I called Jon because the picture itself was small and I wanted to be sure I could get a refund if it turned out to be a forgery/reprint - he assured me that was okay. I can't afford a vg or better Ruth, but my main concern for cards in my "permanent collection" is visual appeal and the trimming doesn't detract from that. Actually, I can't tell it's been trimmed but it's definitely a little short. Not to reopen a can of very smelly worms, but if I decided to re-sell it, I would describe it as "short" and returnable for a full refund.

They've also told me what to eyeball on the actual card (edges, etc.), and everything checks out. Since I'm happy with their assessment and don't plan to get it graded, it will be up to my heirs to authenticate it! (but I might asked to be buried with my cards)
