Question about 1966 Orr RC KSA Graded 9

Hi all,
I am familiar with the fact that many 1979 OPC Gretzky cards are sheet cut and end up as KSA graded cards. Does the same hold true for 1966 Topps Orr cards ? Were these only in wax packs or were they sheet cut as well ? I see a new listing on Ebay for a KSA 9. I am always very suspicious of KSA. Several years ago I bought my one and only KSA Mint 9 card at a local card show that ended up being rejected by PSA because it was trimmed. My skeptical side suspects the card in this Ebay auction got rejected by PSA and ended up with KSA.
Not trying to bash. Just interested in your opinions

I think you answered you own question. People don't submit uber expensive cards to second tier grading services unless there is a reason.

Hi and welcome to the board!

PSA does not grade trimmed cards and this is why your card was rejected. The best thing to do is to just purchase a PSA graded card and then you won't have to worry about it being trimmed.

Have a wonderful day! :)

Fortunately the card that I purchased was a 1966 Canadiens team card and it was only $75. At least it wasn't an Orr RC. As I said I am suspicious of any vintage KSA card being trimmed.

It does make you wonder? I've also seen a few big American companies use KSA, which really makes me shake my head.

I know KSA is more lenient than most other TPG's, but then again, have we all just gotten use to PSA's grading criteria so we view other, non PSA cards, in the same manner?

I don't know the age of the flip whether it is a recent or older one, but from what I have read recently, KSA is under new mngt and the new guy Nathan/Nate, is supposed to be much better/honest than the previous owners??

Also, being up here in Canada, shipping a card like that stateside would make me very uncomfortable as that has also been one of the reasons why I haven't sent any of my cards stateside either.

The card above fills the flip perfectly from what I can see but I am unsure if that is conclusive enough to say it likely hasn't been trimmed nor doctored in some manner.

One thing that sticks out about this card is the opening bid. An Orr 9 RC is worth way more than that so that in itself throws up a red flag for me as well.

Irv,
I agree with your comment. Assuming the card was legit and PSA knocked the grade down to 7 it's still a $15K card.

According to this link, the card looks real from what I can tell? Without a zoom feature, however, it makes it a bit more difficult.

With zero bids so far at $5000, I feel something is up but I don't know what at this point.

I'm not questioning it's authenticity.

Ebay listing ended. Now has it up for sale at $11,850.
Makes sense. If you can't get a bid for $5K put it up for more than twice the amount !! Lol
