Picked this up in a lot with other non auto Goudeys, and I'm not an auto collector. Thanks for your opinion!

Sean knows better than anyone, but that looks like the TTM's I received as well.

Nice card.

Joe was a friend and an incredibly humble man.

Some of you might have received signed Conlon Collection cards from Joe. Due to their dark color scheme, he would often sign them with a White-Out pen. These pens had the tendency to glob all over the place if you used too heavy a hand, as they really weren't meant for writing. Joe always carried his glasses in a case in his front shirt pocket. The case had all sorts of white-out globs on the outside!

You would have never thought he was once a big name in the game if you sat and talked to him. He certainly didn't seem to consider himself that, anyhow, even though it was the truth. A fine person.

I have one of those Conlon cards from a mail request many years ago. I always wondered what kind of pen that was!

Out of curiosity, how did you find the addresses before the internet ?

Sean may have a different response, but I regularly used to purchase Jack Smalling's (http://www.baseballaddresses.com/) list.

yeah I was buying Jack Smallings book since 1982 and every 2 or so years would buy the updated one. It was the best!

I used the Smallings books to find potential autograph guests who lived in a driveable distance of my town. Got Jim Bibby, Alan Knicely, Ron Hodges, Charlie Manuel and several others though that list.

That Smalling book got me so many autographs in the 80s. One of my favorite things was mailing in Donald Honigs baseball in the 30s book. Got 75 autographs that was including Moore twice in it Attachment 405244
