High Number Series From the 1960s

Long time collector, but new to this site. I have been fascinated with the prices realized by all the high number commons from the 1960's Topps sets. There is a thread on here with an "unofficial" price guide for 1967 Topps. Has there been other guides posted on the site for the 1961, 1962, 1965 or 1967 Topps sets. Thank you in advance for any help any of the other collectors on here.

Most of them you can find pricing for raw by searching sold values on eBay or looking for the currently for sale listings on COMC to get "retail" pricing. If you're talking graded, they trade regularly enough to look up on PSA's Auction Prices Realized site.

High Number Series From the 1960s

I would agree that the most realistic price guide you are going to find is eBay sold listings.

High numbers are a strange bird, and as I have gotten older fascinate me because as a kid (I didn’t start collecting until ‘86) I never had to deal with that phenomenon.

I think it’s interesting that some high numbers, even from a set notorious for them like ‘67 Topps - seem to be more plentiful than once thought, and even on eBay in high grade can be had for a relative bargain - while others appear to have been justifiably rare then and still are, and continue to command premiums today. I guess it’s just the market continuing to slowly evolve and allocate more efficiently. A good reason likely I will never complete a ‘67 set - thanks for Seaver and Carew there, Topps...

I agree eBay sold listings are great for pricing, but some of the cards are all over the place in the same grade. I recently finished up the 1967 Hi# Series and the guide that was listed on here a few years back was very helpful and I just didn't know if someone tried to do the same with any of the other hi# runs from other years. Might have to start compiling some myself!!

I put together the 67 price guide you're referencing a few years ago and eBay sold listings were my primary source. While the $ amounts may fluctuate slightly I think it's a good guide for the relative scarcity/demand of the cards. I.E. there's a big group of $5 cards, group of $8 cards, then $12-15 cards, $20 cards, etc.

I did do the same thing for '66. My opinion is the other years don't have the same variance in values of the "common" high numbers. For the most part, every "common" high number from 59, 60, 61, 62 (SPs are a little more valuable, but well documented), 63 (#496 is an outlier) are all about the same. '64, '65, and '68-'72 are all much more available and cheaper so no analysis is necessary.

For what it's worth, here's my '66 "unofficial" price guide. I didn't spend as much time on it an haven't really kept track of it like I did '67 so it may not be as accurate, but it's a start.
