Signed Dodger Bat Authentication
 

A friend of mine has inherited a bat from her father who attended Dodger Fantasy camps many years ago. The bat is loaded w/ autographs of all the Dodger greats Koufax, Drysdale, Snider etc. plus all the more recent guys.
She isn't looking to sell it but get it appraised for insurance purposes and authenticated for the future.

So the question is... for the money... who should I suggest she send the bat to? Mears, PSA? Who is most respected without breaking the bank?

I believe MEARS only authenticates game usage...so that would narrow down your authenticators to PSA/DNA, JSA, GAI, or SGC. PSA/DNA and JSA are the big two/most respected in the hobby...so you may want to call them individually and see what they charge. Honestly, I think the cost to authenticate will often times more than what the item(s) are worth (shipping, authentication, etc.) depending on size of the item/amount of signatures. Your friend might be better off either posting photos to this site and asking some more experienced collectors, or taking it to a local show where perhaps an auction house in attendance could give you a better idea on appraisal/value.
