Movie trivia

Watching an old Sci-Fi movie the other day, I was struck by the fact that four of the actors in the film appeared in well-known cards sets - and not sets devoted exclusively to film actors. Three as major subjects of non-sports sets and one in baseball sets. Any guesses at the film title? Kind of a lame post, I guess, but it's the dog days.

John Beradino was also in the movie. So he could be the baseball player. Leonard Nimoy had a bit part. I'm sure he is on a Star Trek card. There were a few other know actors such as William Schallert and Edmund Gwenn who could have been in a set somewhere. Mike

You guys are close enough. "Them!" which I happened to see in a theater in 1954 (and spent the next several nights hiding under my covers in bed), starred James Arness, who of course went on to bigger stuff in "Gunsmoke. And, you're right, Mike - Fess Parker had a minor part in the flick, just before he hit the big time on TV as Davy Crockett. And, you're also right, Mike - Leonard Nimoy had a very brief uncredited part as an army sergeant. My favorite ballplayer turned low-budget film actor, John Beradino, played a cop in the movie and had several scenes with dialog, despite appearing uncredited. Gee, I wonder why Chuck Connors' agent didn't have him audition for the film? Maybe it paid peanuts, I guess.

I love those old 1950's sci-fi movies. Though they scared me as a kid, I laugh at them now! It's always fun to see some of the actors/actresses who had bit parts in them and became semi famous. Mike
