Highly suspicious T206 red Cobb in "PSA 6" holder on ebay

Look for yourself:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/T206-Ty-Cobb...MAAOSwn7JYE6BZ

And look here at PSA Certification Verification #31574558:
http://www.psacard.com/cert/31574558/

The PSA site says the T206 Cobb card with that ID number was encapsulated "with the embedded PSA hologram on the label." The card up for auction doesn't have the hologram.

The PSA site says the card was entered into PSA's system as a "T206 SWEET CAPORAL 350-460/25." However, the flip on the card up for auction says only "T206."

The card itself looks like a reprint. And just looking at the typeface on the flip, well, let's just say it looks unusual and unfamiliar.

If memory serves that's a reputable seller they may have been duped themselves.

"Data entry errors may occur causing information to differ between the label and the database."

I think that this is what happened. The card itself looks good to me.

Fake flip. Bogus card.

The card owner can contact PSA about the discrepancy in the Cert look up and PSA has fixed that in the past if the card is legit. I did look to purchase a green cobb last year and once PSA made the change on the cert look up to match the card i was buying i did buy the card..

It is a fake

He should contact Psa to let them know where he purchased it. Looks 100% bad to me. Shocked any regular net54 poster would have any other opinion on it. If the card is in fact legit they need a new scanner as the one they have now makes cards have some tell tale signs of a reprint.

One thing I like to do is scan the barcode using the PSA app. When I do that with this card it says it's a 1991 Topps Traded Luis Gonzalez. I sent the seller a note telling them the issues and recommended they send to PSA. We'll see what happens.

I always wonder when the barcode doesnt match the code, the other barcode is always for a much lesser valued card. Instead of the Luis Gonzalez, why cant it be a Babe Ruth or 1952 Mantle its confusing it with.

It looks like you are right. The card is no longer for sale.

I suppose they could have sold it off ebay. Hopefully not.

The font on the flip looks way off. Maybe the seller saw this thread and will offer an explanation.

LOL, as long as they are not a scammer like the realtoppsaholic pair that was selling the fake green Cobb.:)

"Scammer" seems to be a subjective term nowadays. I would say Battlefield is one as well as ebayers who fraudulently state items are or are not what they look like...
and it seems the initial auction is completely gone?

I would say scammer was the appropriate description in my example. They later bought a T206 Hal Chase for $71 from a PWCC auction. The consignor and PWCC made sure it was listed properly as trimmed. This seller put it back on eBay with a $500 BIN and left off the part about the card being trimmed. The card is in a PRO slab with a 7 grade. So if anyone sees this card it is trimmed.

Topsy sold the card, best offer accepted. :( I feel sorry for the new owner.

There was a fake '54 Aaron up about 2 months back that also came back as a Luis Gonzalez card when scanned using the PSA app. Maybe the same person made this label?
