Really Thankful for this forum

Not to get all sappy, but during this time of quarantine, I've felt really thankful for having this community. Even being relatively new, everyone here is very accepting and open. It's become part of my daily ritual before and after work to check out the new posts, and see what's going on in the community. Getting back into collecting has been wonderful, and seeing other people excited about it is always encouraging.

As someone in my mid 20's, I can count on one hand the people I know that are interested in the hobby, so It's nice to have a place where I can go to and post a new addition and see other peoples reaction to it. Thanks again for being such a great spot!

Totally agreed. A place to go away from a lot of serious stuff going down every day. Been quite a year.

There are occasional spats and pissing contests that break out just like everywhere else, and when I first joined a few years ago I let myself get pulled into a few. But like everything else on the internet, you are not going to "win" an argument no matter how irrefutable you think your points. So now I steer clear of all that and just try to learn more about cards and memorabilia. That doesn't mean I won't express an opinion however.

There are some folks here unfailingly negative about every aspect of the hobby. If I felt that way I'd find a new hobby. Life's too short.

I'm definitely learning a lot from just browsing through the forums. And yes arguments will probably occur on any forum. I think there are going to be people who are negative about any hobby they get involved in. I try not to dwell on it either. Nothing but positive experiences here so far though so fingers crossed!

I started collecting vintage about 10 years ago. The town I lived in had 2-3 LCS, and I could go in and maybe find something. Then I moved to a town, and the closest LCS is 3 hours away. The only way to find vintage was to shop eBay, and we all know that eBay is sometimes a scam, or sellers think their items are Egyptian treasures that ought to pull 400% more than its worth (BTW, those are some of my favorite threads when a member posts those items on this forum). Once I found this forum, the amount of vintage available to me opened up by 5000%. I had never even seen a T206 at any LCS I'd ever been too. There are too many to count on Net54. I really like it here because the possibilities are endless for learning and collecting.

The forum

It's all what you make it. I prefer to have a positive mental attitude about most things. If you love collecting old baseball cards and memorabilia it's a great place (of course I am biased).

I'm consistently amazed by the amount of vintage items that pop up here. I can't remember who posted it, but the other day someone was selling a 1914 Cracker Jack Joe Jackson card. Some of these items floor me. I really need to hit lotto or work a 2nd and 3rd job if I ever want to buy some of these wonderful pieces. Also to your point, you would think the NY metro area would have tons of placs to buy vintage cards, it's sadly quite the opposite. I'm looking forward to many more years on here.

I try to have that positive attitude as well Leon. And I think you're allowed to be a little bit biased :D
