If you search 2004 topps originals Mays on ebay, 5 fakes will come up. All have the ebay authenticity guarantee. It would be interesting to know if any are kicked back for being fake or they will get ebays stamp of approval. Also 2 bad Aarons

It is my understanding that they are just checking on the card itself (or the slab, if it's encapsulated). As we know, the cards themselves are real in this case, unlike the autographs placed on them. From what I've heard, if a card is signed, the grading company sends it on to the buyer saying something to the effect that it was sent to them in error. This throws an entirely different scenario into the mix, however, doesn't it? I wonder how this applies to signed inserts, as the autograph is supposed to be part of the (re-)issued card and not signed after the fact. I also especially wonder how CSG would handle such a situation with no autograph authenticators in their employ.

Edit:. The few Mays I saw were all over the $750 threshold, so would be sent to PSA as opposed to the other company. That might help them catch the issue considering they have autograph authenticators to look at such things, but I didn't think this process involved the autograph department whatsoever.

Very interesting question you've posed!

I doubt it will go to the autograph guys at PSA. The few ebay purchases I bought over $500 with ebay guarantee were turned around in about an hour, not a reality if signed
