Sovereign 460 Don't Get No Respect

I know it's been debated before but what are current views on why they don't seem to get t206 price premium some feel they deserve. Rankings of scarcity often place them near brown Hindu but prices seem more like EPDG. Do HOFers even get 25% boost? Your thoughts.

wazoo 01-01-2014 10:45 AM

To be honest, I feel that even with a Sovereign 460 back, some hall of famers don't get much of a boost. For example, John McGraw glove at side...the prices don't really seem to rise that much, at least from what I've seen.

I think a part of it is that some of them aren't all that tough. Most are, but a few are much easier.
And with most being available as 350's from the same brand there isn't the same flashiness as a Hindu or even EP.

Switching hands

I always find it interesting how this board is incredibly wide spread. It seems that the majority of cards bought, sold, traded have been owned by several members at one time or another. Does this mean that the board is unbelievably large or our grand hobby is really small? :)

iwantitiwinit 01-02-2014 12:16 PM

It means we are all addicted to T206's and we havent yet reached the point of finding "the last buyer".

DerekMichael 01-02-2014 01:14 PM

Actually, I did not own this exact example, only the combination itself.

It was a boner of a move on my part, but letting go of cards like the Matty has really helped me to identify the cards that I would be kicking myself for letting go of.

Yours is lovely.

Sovereign 460's are drastically over rated when compared to most people's scarcity list. They simply don't bring the premium that they should based upon where they rank on most lists. I have said before that I actually think Sovereign 150's are a bit tougher, at least they have been for me

460's

I would like to see Johnny V jump in on this thread as he has more insight into Sovereign 460's than most of us. Johnny if your reading these lets here your opinion.

T206 SOVEREIGN 460 subjects

Hey guys

There are 3 levels of difficulty in acquiring the 52 subjects that were printed with the SOVEREIGN 460 back.

1st....relatively easy to find are the guys that I refer to as the "Exclusive 12", they are............

http://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/...psde4f5982.jpghttp://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9075c421.jpg

http://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/...ps197cead9.jpghttp://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/...pse77e2da9.jpghttp://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/...pse77e2da9.jpghttp://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/...ps197cead9.jpghttp://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/...pse77e2da9.jpghttp://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/...ps197cead9.jpghttp://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/...pse77e2da9.jpghttp://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/...ps197cead9.jpghttp://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/...ps197cead9.jpghttp://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/...pse77e2da9.jpghttp://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/...ps197cead9.jpghttp://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/...pse77e2da9.jpg

Just check out ebay, on any given day you will observe these 12 being more available than any of the other 40 subjects with SOVEREIGN 460 backs.
Furthermore, PSA & SGC POP reports confirm this observation.

You can read more about these 12 - T206's with respect to their AMERICAN BEAUTY 460, EPDG, red HINDU, OLD MILL, POLAR BEAR, SWEET CAPORAL 460 Factory #42,
and UZIT in this thread (LENOX and PIEDMONT 460 Factory #42 backs are No-Prints)............

NOTE the two Hal Chase cards with their SOVEREIGN 350 and SOVEREIGN 460 backs. Their SOVEREIGN 350 backs were printed with the apple green ink.
All six Super-Print cards with SOVEREIGN 350 backs were printed with the apple green ink.

Their SOVEREIGN 460 versions were printed with the normal green ink (as were the 46 subjects in the 460-only Series).
