Plastic Shortage

Anybody else affected by the current Card Saver drought?

Looking to buy some cases of card saver 1's. Who has extras?

Card Savers

I was alerted by a shop owner in late February who was told by their distributor that there were no Ultra Pro holders being produced and was selling what they had access to at that time.

I looked at a display box on the internet for every brand of semi rigid holder brand I could think of and they were all made in China.

I stocked up and am gald I did. If Card Savers are not being produced in China now and thus built up demand, when they are produced again the will be sucked up instantly, most likely with a price spike.

Imagine if China doesn't produce them for another year?

BUMP.

If anybody can sell these at $17 per box shipped, I will buy in quantity

They come in 200 piece boxes. Looking for any brand. Ultra pro, cardboard gold, bcw, etc. as long as they are grading submission size.

Cardboard Gold says they have "a large shipment" of CS1s coming in on June 6th

That is normally where I buy from.

Regular Price is still showing - $149 including shipping for 2000 (40 boxes of 50 each - I think)

They are usually pretty reliable with great customer service - you might want to drop them an email

swarmee 05-20-2020 11:12 AM

Is this a paid advertisement?

No...I think someone is looking for CS 1's....apparently there is a shortage of them....I recently bought some and it appears I have been gouged.

card saver 1

I'm sorting through some 52 Topps lots that I bought recently. I bought 2 200 count boxes at $26 per box about 3 months ago from a big ebay dealer in Arlington.

I just checked and he is sold out. There are not many cs 1's for sale right now on eBay. Almost none in bulk.

lowpopper 05-20-2020 11:39 AM

Under normal circumstances, you can buy these for $11 or $12 a box when you buy a case of 10 boxes. I am offering to pay $17 a box right now

Well..I wish I could help you... I just got gouged apparently...hopefully the supply chain will open up soon...when it does, if you want to go half on a case or two, I am down...if not that is cool too....lol

lowpopper 05-20-2020 11:43 AM

Just spoke with a cardboard gold rep on the phone. He
confirmed they will begin taking orders again on June 6th.

I can do that. I'm going to order a few cases.

To fit my 1967 Laughlin World Series sets, I picked up a box of 200 off of Amazon a few weeks ago (I took the lowest price/free shipping available, $21.99). Wow, who knew there was going to be a run on the things?? Guess I lucked out.

Are you looking to use them for submissions? I can sell you some that are used. They have stickers on them from sellers like Greg Morris / Battersbox and other sources. I use them to submit but I bet I have a good thousand of these used. Don’t need them all.

Let me know.

Marchillo 05-20-2020 04:00 PM

I’ve got 2.5 rows of them

I always wondered what PSA did with all the CS's they got. I assume they throw them out. What a waste.

I can't imagine they do that. All the CS 1's I send are brand new...I imagine they recycle them.

I suspect they cut them to remove the cards without possibly doing damage to the contents. If they actually have people sticking their fingers in there to (try to) remove the cards, that would make me never want to send in another card for grading. I have a hard enough time on my own trying to successfully remove cards from holders.

I somehow find that very hard to believe. My guess is, as Darren says, they cut them up the side to have two open sides for easy removal.
