OT - AL playoffs

At this moment, according to the standings on ESPN.com : 7 teams in the AL have better than a 97% chance of making the playoffs. The Jays are at 56%, the Orioles at 14% and nobody else is over 9%.

Looks like 8 teams are playing for their seed position, and the rest are just playing to play.

The percentages are crazy considering the shortened season, but they vary widely day to day. Take for instance Baseball Reference had Toronto’s percentage at 70% and Baltimore’s at 17% yesterday while Baltimore was in reality 2 games back of the Blue Jays with 30 to play.

When this shorten season began wasn't this supposed to be a Yankees/ Dodgers World Series? Doesn't look good for the Yanks lately..

The Dodgers are listed at 100% and could potentially finish the season with a 25-35 record, so I don't quite see how 100% is valid.

With 8 AL teams in the playoffs it seems VERY (very) very unlikely that the Yankees will be left out.

If the playoffs were based on the standings at this moment, every team with a record of .500 and above would be in, and they would be joined by the Brewers who are at .469. The Brewers would be seeded 6th.

The Mets are also at .469 but would not make the playoffs due to the Brewers being in second place in their division.
