Does Anyone Recall What Adam LaRoche Did...

...not when he played for the White Sox and retired rather than not being able to share with his son...

...while he played for the Braves...seems like he snoozed on an important play and took a lot of grief for it.

I'm fairly sure it was before he was traded to the Pirates.

Any help will be greatly appreciated by someone whose memory may be slipping.

Yeah. He fielded a grounder and jogged to first, only to be beaten there by Nick Johnson. Everyone booed him immediately, and he got benched.
I very clearly remember that one, and not in the happy way.

Are you sure of the date? The Braves played the Marlins on May 15 and Johnson played for the Nationals.

Found it...it was actually May 14 - first error I've seen on Wikipedia in a while.

This site got it right:

https://armchairgm.fandom.com/wiki/Adam_LaRoche
.

Yup, I was relying on Wiki for the date.

But that is the one you were thinking of?

When I hear the name, I think of this card. I have collected the Topps All-Rookie Team cards since the beginning of my habit and this one stood out that year.

That was it - thanks...I'll see if Wikipedia will correct the error.
