BCCG 9 1976 Walter Payton

Was going through a stack of cards a while back and found a BCCG 9 1976 Walter Payton rookie I had. I tried to do a lookup on the Beckett site and no joy on the serial number. Is this normal? I bought the card back in 2010. Not sure when it was graded before I bought it.

I went here: https://www.beckett.com/grading/card-lookup

and I am selecting the BCCG radio button. the dang captcha each time is really annoying.

Was going to reach out to their contacts shortly but thought I would check in here first to see if this is a common occurrence.

It's pretty common. They'll probably add it if you take a picture of the front and back and email it to them.

Whew. Was afraid there might be a more serious problem.

I don't do much on the football card side of things, I think this is the only BCCG card I own. Is it worth it to re-slab it into a PSA? Or am I greatly risking a downgrade.

I would cross that even without seeing it. More valuable in a PSA slab.

Well, remember that BCCG 9 is Near Mint or better on BGS's grading scale, so a 7 or so. PSA no longer does crossover submissions (just stopped last week), so you'd have to break it out of the holder yourself. So it depends on your risk tolerance.

Sorry, was not sure what you meant. Are you saying a a BCCG/BGS 9 is comparable to a PSA 7?

A BGS 9 is graded as Mint and would be similar to a PSA 9.
A BCCG 9 is termed "Near Mint or better", a different grading scale than PSA or BGS use. That would equate to a BGS or PSA 7.

Ah. Thanks for the clarification.
