Best NBA team, not necessarily best players

My son just got back from NYC, visited the NBA store - sounds amazing and huge, almost like a museum of sorts.

Anyway, talking best players of all time and your All Time NBA team. I told him pure offensive stats are very important, sure, but when it comes to putting together your best all-time "Team." You want players who make others better, players with high basketball IQ, players that get along with others/coaches, you also need a role player to do the unheralded dirty work, you need to seriously think defense not only offense. That said, What is your best NBA all time team?

I go with: Center - Jabbar, Forwards - Bird and Dennis Rodman (best role player I ever saw, incredible defense, best rebounder of my generation, several championships), Guards - Jordan & Magic.

Could easily slide in Wilt, Russell, Steph Curry. But gee, sounds like I am stuck in the 1980's.

Jabbar
LeBron
Bird or Duncan
Magic
Jordan

I do like Rodman a great deal, underrated for sure.

I don’t disagree with any of your picks, but here is my team with a few changes:

Center: Bill Russell
Forwards: Larry Bird, Julius Erving
Guards: Michael Jordan, John Stockton

Would love to see Bird’s outlet passes to Dr. J, the best transition player ever IMO.

I would take

C-Wilt Chamberlain
PF-Timmy Duncan
SF-Larry Bird
SG-Michael Jordan
PG-Earvin Johnson

I got all World elite GOAT offense/defense combo at Center

I got inside/outside threat who would do dirty work and be unselfish to want to just win at any cost at PF

i got elite shooting to take anyone outside and got have that killer instinct in Bird

Jordan -do I really need to say more

Magic - do I really need to say more

Sort of a sliding off on a tangent here, but my thoughts immediately go to the first team I remember as a little kid, my World Champion 1972-73 New York Knicks. Holy frickin' cow!! All 5 of their starters (and the coach) are HOF'ers:

Walt Frazier
Earl Monroe
Bill Bradley
Dave DeBusschere
Willis Reed

Red Holzman

And coming off the bench, you even have two more:
Jerry Lucas
Phil Jackson
