FINAL DAY!!! Fundraising for Crohns and Colitis

Between August 11-22 all donations will be matched by a few generous donors. Double your impact and help the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation today!

NUTS AND BOLTS: I'm seeking donations for the Crohns and Colitis Foundation (CCF). I will be taking part in the CCF walkathon "Get Gutsy." It takes place August 1-22. You can donate now until the end of the walkathon. My goals are to walk 80 miles and raise $5000, or reach 100 donors. You can donate by using this link:

Or donate through FaceBook:

MORE INFO: Crohn's and colitis are autoimmune diseases that affect the guts. Autoimmune disease is hereditary in my family. My g'pa had rheumatoid arthritis and my father has pulmonary fibrosis. I've had stomach problems since I was 19, and I was 29 when I was finally diagnosed with Crohn's in 2015. This April, I had my first major complication and surgery; 5 feet of my small intestine was removed due to a perforated bowel. After surgery, I started donating to the CCF every month. I recently learned that they have taken a decent hit in their fundraising since most of their events have been canceled. So when I learned about the walkathon, I thought, I can raise money for a good cause. Usually these events occur with teams. My teammates will be my young son and my wife.

The website above is run by the CCF, I will never handle any of the donations. Your donations go toward a disease that affects 1.6 million Americans, and has an additional 70k new patients each year. Treatments have greatly improved over the last 20 years, and the CCF is always researching to better understand the 5 W's, and How. Your donations are greatly appreciated. If you donate please let me know, I'd love to send you a hand written thank you with a picture from my son included. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...3dcd880d04.jpg

Update: Walkathon starts tomorrow, Saturday, August 1, and it runs until August 22.

I hope you will decide to donate. It is for a great cause that affects millions of American citizens.

To donate, go to: http://online.crohnscolitisfoundatio.../OdeenGetGutsy

Very excited about my progress with fundraising before the start of the walkathon. So far I've raised $335, reaching 9 donors. I have an additional 2 donors who have committed to donate. And I'm personally working with about 7 other donors to secure their donations.

My goals are to walk 80 miles, reach 100 donors, and raise $5000. The Crohn's and Colitis Foundation helps provide funds for research, awareness, and activities. They support 1.6 million Americans who have been diagnosed with Crohn's or Colitis, and an additional 1.4 million Americans who have been diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Disease.

Update: DAY 1

Went walking at 6:30 this morning to beat the heat. 72 degrees when I started. My teammate was still sleeping when I left, so I went solo today. I walked 6.86 miles, nearing 10% of my 80 mile goal.

I'm up to 14 donors reached, and $596 raised. I'm very excited. There are still 2 donors committed to donating, and roughly a half dozen I'm working with to secure donations before August 22.

To donate, follow the link to my fundraising page organized by the Crohns and Colitis Foundation.

Day 4: Finally went walking with my teammate! Got out at 72 degrees, back home at 80 degrees. It'll be a warm one today. Now at 23 miles of my 80 mile goal.

Yesterday I surpassed $700 in contributions to help the Crohns and Colitis Foundation. I have two more donors who have committed, and I'm working with several other friends to join me. I'm excited to be so close to the $1000 mark. I would love your help to get there.

If you are interested in donating you have until August 22. Just click the link below and follow directions.

Update Day 7: no walk on Day 6. Wife has a COVID scare at work, so I left town (she's considered an essential worker and has to continue to report to work). I'm an at risk individual. It's just not compatible.

Today, it was a beautiful morning for a walk! 4.4 miles brought my running total to 31 miles. Day 7 means the walkathon is 1/3 complete.

For fundraising, the last two days has seen a flurry of donations that have brought my total to $1075. I received two checks from colleagues "who just don't do technology..." When I get the chance to cash those and submit them, that will bring the total to $1135. I have three other donors committed, and a half dozen other donors I have personally contacted. Onward to $1500!

Your donation will help secure continued research and public awareness campaigns for 3 million Americans who suffer from some form of bowel disease. Please consider donating for someone you might know who had had to deal with diagnosis. Just click on the link, and follow directions.

I had ulcerative colitis between the ages of 19 and 30, during which time it advanced from mild and barely a bother to the point where I had to have my colon removed. Thank God all is well now, but I remember all too well when that was not the case. Thanks for taking up this cause!

Update Day 9: Had good company with me on my hike today. We covered 5.3 miles on a beautiful morning. My total miles are up to 44 miles, my goal for the walkathon being 80.

I have been humbled by the support family, friends, and colleagues are extending. Donations are now at $1082. I'm hoping to reach $1500 of donations to the Crohns and Colitis Foundation by next weekend. I hope you will see fit to donate to a foundation that supports 3 million Americans. To do so, click the link and follow directions.

Update Day 15: Lazy Saturday was a great day to go on a long walk on the Centennial trail. My walk today took me to 68 miles. With 7 more days of walking I just might be able to reach 100 miles... my goal is just 80.

As for donations, I have raised more than $1600 for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation. I had to send in a couple checks to the foundation, so they don't show up on my fundraising page yet.

If you're interested in donating, you have one week left, August 22 is the last day of the walkathon. I won't hit my astronomical goal of $5000, but with persistance I might come close to $2500. I'm so grateful and humbled to everyone who has already donated. To donate, just click the link below. Once to my fundraising page, click the button that says Donate to Timothy, and then follow directions.

UPDATE Day 18: I accomplished my goal of 80 miles walked, and I now am at 86 miles.

More importantly! The Crohn's and Colitis Foundation announced that from August 11-22, all donations will be matched, meaning each donation carries twice the impact. I have raised more than $1800, and I have reached 39 donors. I'm hoping in the remaining days to reach $2500 and eclipse 50 donors. If you have been considering donating, now is the time to take advantage of the matching gift opportunity. Please follow the link, and then click on the button that says "Donate to Timothy." Then follow directions. All donations go directly to the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation, and I don't see any of your financial information.

UPDATE Day 19: Thought I was going to get in a long walk today, 7+ miles, when my daughter ran up and wanted to go along too. So the walk was cut in half. But the company was top notch. Now up to 91 total miles.

Also, all donations now until Aug 22 will be matched to double the impact of your gift to the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation. To give, click on one of the links in the previous post and then follow directions. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...f486a75caa.jpg

UPDATE Day 21: [emoji898][emoji1635][emoji322][emoji512][emoji312][emoji966] I surpassed $2000 in donations! I'm so excited, and humbled, and joyous. Now, I need just 7 more contributors to reach 50 donors. Only 36 hours left to give. Now is the time.

Get to spend the day with my wife without kids. We went on a walk this morning and now I'm at 97 total miles. I will top 100 miles tomorrow. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...f46f94eabb.jpg

UPDATE Final Day! My family went out with me this morning for my final walk. After a 3.5 mile walk, I ended the walkathon with 101 miles, 21 more than my 80 mile goal.

As for fundraising, I surpassed the $2000 benchmark, and I have had 42 individuals donate. I'm hoping to make it to 50 donors, but time isn't on my side. Regardless, by all measures, this has been a successful fundraiser. I have been humbled the generosity of so many to help with a cause that means a lot to me.
