Same here… classic and beautiful Vest Jersey of an excellent player. Wish he could’ve stayed a Red for longer. Great one, Chris!

Ray Berres lived 10 minutes away from me and I was able to talk baseball with him several times. He had a few old hats and some other memorabilia but I do not remember him having any flannels. It is so cool to see this.

I know some of his relatives who will be thrilled to know this is out there.

Flannels are about as cool as it gets in the hobby. I hope this thread keeps on rolling.

Even my wife and friends think this story is cool and they don't collect. I was at dealer Dave Bushing's house about 25 years ago to pick up a jersey from him and he let me check out this amazing piece of history. It was a 1947 Jackie Robinson jersey that he was selling to a client for 25K. It's not too often you get to hold a major piece of history. I'm guessing it's worth a few million these days.

Mark, I'm always humbled by your astonishing collection. Here's a few of my favorite flannels from the boondocks of baseball. I can't resist a great looking old jersey, regardless how obscure the team was that wore it. I can't tell you much about any of these teams, but if you have any information to share, I'd love to hear it.

JimmyC 09-01-2022 07:38 PM

Chris - those are awesome!

perezfan 09-01-2022 10:31 PM

Those are BEAUTIFUL, Chris!

Such stylish examples from Baseball's Golden Age. Especially love the INCAS Jersey. Great stuff!

5. 1958 Roy Sievers Senators (3D)

Off the charts beautiful. That was my year, and he was my guy! I was a 12-year-old Joe Boyd, and he was Joe Hardy. Not to mention, it's real-life footage of Roy hitting a home run that wins the pennant for the Nats at the end of the movie "Damn Yankees." (Wearing this jersey, maybe?)

perezfan 09-05-2022 03:04 PM

Thanks Hank! That’s amazing info. I will need to re-watch Damn Yankees! in its entirety soon. Such a great take on “Faust” and one of my Dad’s very favorites. He grew up in DC and hated the Yankees with a passion. He was also an accomplished musician, so the film really resonated with him.

Can’t wait to see the real-life Sievers Homer. Ya gotta have heart!
