OT-Hall of Fame PC questions...

Posted By: T E
Back in 1969 I was at the Hall of Fame. I went into the souvenir shop. They had those glossy yellow backgound HOF plaque cards. But in a basket on the floor, they were selling these. I take it they were printed in 1939 for the "100 year Anniv."

The one showing the museum itself is blank-backed.

I'd love any knowledge on these cards, thanks!

Posted By: Rhett Yeakley
What you have is the first type of HOF B/W postcards they made. They were produced by "National Base Ball Museum" from 1939-43, yours is the first type, made only in 1939, slight caption change on back from 1940-1943. Then Albertype produced the postcards from 1944-1950's, then they were replaced by Artvue which produced them until 1963. I believe that is when the Yellow ones began to be produced nearly uninterupted until the present day, 1970's Dexter Press ones were made for a short time but they were terrible for signatures and were discontinued.
-Rhett

Posted By: T E
Is this something I should authenticate if I ever decided to sell? I guess I should have scooped out a few more of these cards from that basket! The only other one I got is Cy Young.

Posted By: Dan Bretta
TE, is that bottom one a postcard or an envelope? It looks very similar in design to my Ruth First Day Cover from the opening of the Hall in 1939.
