My T206 Tolstoi Collection

I wanted to share my Tolstoi collection with the board and get some thoughts. Seems that I have 212 of the 254 confirmed examples

https://imageevent.com/vanslykefan/s...0&m=24&w=0&p=0

When I started this journey about a decade ago, Tolstoi's weren't that difficult to find. It seems they have dried up and I am more or less seeing the same examples over and over. Cobb's are out there, but a bit pricey...

Is anyone else going after this back? Would like to hear on your experience collecting this set.

These are the 42 confirmed examples that I am missing - a couple have come up the last year or so, but have been out of my price range.

Great Collection!
I have noticed both of the Cobbs really spike in price this year.

Best of luck on your hunt.

Great collection. Good luck with it. The further you go, the more fun it will be to find a Tolstoi that you don't have. I checked, and don't have any Tolstoi from your wantlist. I have about 10 total in back runs.

Very cool. Good luck.

Do you have a Taylor with Tolstoi? I've heard there might be one, but never confirmed it. Thanks, Scott.

I see you do have it. Congratulations on such a nice set. Well done.

Very nice! I haven’t been able to find even a single example for my Providence set, so this looks amazing.

Great progress! I don't have any that you need, but this thread needed some cards. :)

Fantastic collection, Rob. I love the Tolstois! Most of the examples that I have seen have a faint Tolstoi "wet sheet transfer" overprint on the front. Most of yours don't seem to have that, which is a tribute to you.

Thanks for the encouraging comments, really appreciate it. Many of these cards were bought from board members several years ago. I'm guessing I have picked up only a handful of "new" ones over the last couple of years. Always enjoy seeing others share there collections - thanks again.

Jobu 07-28-2020 09:04 PM

Rob - are there any Tolstois that are unconfirmed?

Robextend 07-28-2020 09:08 PM

I use T206 Resource: http://t206resource.com/Tolstoi%20Checklist.html

Anything shaded in green is unconfirmed.

I collect all front/back combinations so technically I'm a Tolstoi Back collector but not exclusively. I currently have 99 different Tolstoi's and the last time I added one to my collection was in 2017. Here is a scan of a couple favorites of mine.

DUDE! I remember when you first started!

Hi Rob. Nice to see you posting. You were ahead of your time. Now it's gotten a lot tougher because everyone enjoys the mid-tier backs. I still have nightmares about the Zimmerman I sold you before I started collecting Tolstois :)

Amazing collection Rob.

That's what I don't like about Tolstoi. A big part of the attraction of T206 for me is the beautiful colors on the front. WST ruins the image. I rarely even search for Tolstoi because so many of them have that faint Tolstoi image on the front. Maybe it's my perception, but it seems to be even more prevalent on better condition cards.
