Posted By: <b>David</b><p>Reverse answer: I sold a truly hideous 1933 Candian Goudey Lou Gehrig for $225.<BR><BR>Foreward answer: I once bought for $240 a 1905 Faulk Cabinet Card Joe McGinnity (in a series depicting New York Giants players) that had at least an inch long strip of the mount cut off. But, other than the trimming, it was beautiful and there were no regrets on my part.

(Gypsy Queen Brouthers, Mayo Anson), lots more where I've spent near $500 (E121 Ruth, Mayo Robinson, Mayo Rusie, A35 Kelly, Goodwin's Champs Keefe -- though that one is attractive with a bizarre defect or two.)<BR><BR><img src="http://www.angelfire.com/nb/jms/mayo_robinson.JPG"><BR><BR>(sorry the scan isn't much better...believe it or not, this card is in a slab.)

Posted By: <b>Julie Vognar</b><p>with an absolutely devestated border, two big triangles out of it, rumples and pushes, a faint stamp of some previous owner on the front, stains all over the back...but the card is over 8" in diameter, so all the players are intact, and bright as the day they were printed. Not sure I can imagine anyone buying it off of me, but I like it.

They destroyed a truely historical piece of memorabilia when they cut up Terry Sawchuck's only pair of leg pads he wore during his career, so why not cut up a card that has no real signifigance to the sports world.<BR><BR>Jay

Posted By: <b>David</b><p>For the benifit of outhers,some card company made a set of game-used memorabilia cards by cutting up the leg pads of Sawchuck (Hockey Hall of Fame goalie. These were the only such leg pads in existence and, as expected, there were big complaints from many people.

Maybe they all have happy homes...<BR><BR>I gave away two Old Judge Hoys, about 12 years ago...and I couldn't find another one! Anyware! (I've told this story before. Yawn.) Finally, about 4 1/2 years ago, Lew Lipset had a gorgeous one in an auction. I was so nervous I kept bidding. Every time someone would outbid me, I would outbid HIM. After a while I noticed that my Hoy was going for more than any of Lew's Hofers. I called him to point this out. "Hm." he said. Then he called me back. "YOU'RE doing it! You're inflating ther bidding! Shut up till the night the auction closes." $1378. (this is five years ago, mind you.) <img src="/images/happy.gif" height=14 width=14>
