2021 topps values?

Just went to target. They had a line of over 20 people waiting for Topps 2021 packs to be restocked. Great for the industry, but what am I missing? Gentleman told me they are reselling for 4-5x msrp.

Oh boy, buckle up! Go read the past 12 months of Sports Collectors Daily. Modern cards went to the moon and then some. Prices are completely outrageous.

You basically answered your own question. People are reselling them on eBay for a profit.

And so it was... that Trout begat Harper, who begat Bryant, who sired Vlad Jr., who birthed Soto and Acuna, brothers of Bichette and Tatis. This escalated the great modern wax demand.

2021 Topps

Speculation works both ways>>>> Think of all the can’t miss stars and the price for those cards now, Gregg Jeffries, Cory Snyder, Brien Taylor, Bo Jackson ( yes due to injury but still card prices nowhere near Super Star level) Strawberry, Gooden, the list is near endless on players who coulda, shoulda, woulda. But didn’t for one reason or another. Obviously some of the hot players of today will become HOFers. Many will fail to live up to the hype in must cases. If your in it to collect buy what you like. If your in it to speculate best of luck. Price will fall after a short period of time on most as it always has in the past with a few rare exceptions.IMO

My experience recently has been that the flippers are all there at Target and Walmart to scoop up the football and basketball, because a $20 blaster is selling on ebay for $60-80, and a $40 mega is selling for $150-200. The baseball has been an unintentional casualty of all of that. Then because the flippers are grabbing it, it creates a perception of scarcity that is not supported by the quantities available. I know shops who had to order twice what last year's order was from Topps on Series 1, which indicates to me a large increase in its production run. I think the baseball will scootch back down in the next month or two. It's only been out a few weeks, and interest will subside. Last year we had Series 1 still on shelves late into the summer, and until a few weeks ago we still had 2020 Update.

Many of these boxes are not getting opened, they are just sitting on them. It's a real PITA for us set collectors.
