Cart lost or stolen - Still put it in the registry?

Curious as to what you all think.

I recently purchased a card (1953 Bowman #51 Monte Irvin) from a seller on eBay. Not a super valuable card but did cost <$100. The card was shipped to me USPS with tracking. The card showed as delivered to my mailbox but was not there two hours later when I checked. The card could have been stolen (which I think is less likely given our mailbox set-up ) or delivered to the wrong address. I have filed a report with the post office and that is proceeding.

My question to the group is this: Should I go ahead and put the card in my registry event though I don't actually have the card? My thinking is that if it was stolen and someone else trying to put it in their registry, I will be notified.

Thoughts?

First of all, that sucks with what happened to it. Hopefully it's just a PO messup and not some goof taking it out of your mail box. I had the same thing happen to me with some cards I bought on here. They showed delivered on a Wednesday to my PO box (at the post office no less). I didn't get them.

Finally called on a Monday, and the PO person went and looked around a minute then came back and said they had been placed into the wrong box. Hopefully that's all that's happened here.

As for your question, me personally, I wouldn't put it into the registery until I have it in hand. Just as I wouldn't call a set complete just cause the card I need is on the way. I wait until it's in hand and in the set to then mark complete.

Yes, you should add it to your registry.

You can put it in your registry but it won't do you any good unless you have a police report. I don't know that it will do any good even with a police report. If someone tries to register the card you will get the email from PSA. You would then contact PSA and send them a copy of the report. But, what will PSA do? Will they try to retrieve the card? If they try but the person registering it refuses to send it in what will happen?

I have a card in my registry that was stolen when I shipped it to the buyer. It has been there for 2 or 3 years. No one has tried to register it. I actually found it on an auction house site as part of a completed set. It was the only graded card in the set. I contacted the auction house but there was nothing they could or would do without proof. I never got a police report.

Hopefully it will show up in a couple days

PO

You can go to your Post Office and ask to talk to a supervisor. It will take the supervisor about 2 minutes to use GPS to see exactly where your package was scanned as delivered. If it was delivered to your mailbox, the tracking will show it. If it was delivered to a neighbor, the GPS will show it.
