FINAL REDUCTION - 1950-51 Cuban Winter League Real Photo - Willie Mays (BGS Authentic)
Posted By: <b>Phil Garry</b><p>Good Evening, Collectors:<br /><br />Up for sale tonight is a likely "1-of-a-Kind" Cuban Winter League Real Photo of HOF great, Willie Mays, taken early in the Winter League season of 1950-51. Mays was hoping to spend the "offseason" playing ball in Cuba but the San Francisco Giants forbid him from playing due to risk of injury and he was forced to return to the US without ever getting into a game in Cuba. In subsequent years, Mays played winter ball in Puerto Rico but never returned to Cuba. <br /><br />This beautiful real photo displays extreme clarity in picturing the "Say Hey Kid" prior to his first Major League card issued by Bowman in 1951, thus making this item a Pre-Rookie piece. The photo has been encapsulated and authenticated by Beckett Grading Services, an industry leader in third-party grading. Please review scans of the front and back for condition details.
