1951 Topps Ringside Boxing Cards
 

Not certain why, but this set has been one of my favorite to put together since the mid 1970's. The mix of eras, world champs, wrestlers, contenders, colors, commons and story-lines keeps on bringing me back to building another set.

Currently I am looking primarily to trade for a few 1951 Topps Ringside Cards in Excellent+ or better condition.

I have numerous duplicates in lesser grade and many Topps Baseball Cards available to trade ranging from 1959 to 1990.

Maybe you have some doubles, maybe its just time to part with a few boxing cards or you are just ready to make a fair trade or to sell. If interested send me a PM.

These are GREAT cards and I'm glad I pulled them out to have a look at them lol. I'm five cards away from a low grade set I need

32 Rocky Marciano
48 Rocky Castellani
49 Bob Murphy SP (toughest card in the set)
67 Paul Berlenbach
95 Gene Tunney

(sorry no duplicates)

With all the other stuff I collect these are sort of low priority but I sure would like to "knock-out" #49! Other Short Prints are #55 #61 #89

Speaking of this set and it's SP's, does anyone know how determining the SP's were arrived at? #95 Tunney seems far more difficult than #55 Fitzsimmons. 67 Berlenbach also seems to me like it is a SP.

I don't know the answer to your question and understand the concept that SPs reflect having fewer cards produced. However its been my experience over the years that #48 Castellani, #49 Murphy and #95 Tunney seem more like SPs when it comes to market availability.

I don't have any idea about why cards are listed as SPs. The PSA site says the cards were released in two series each 48 cards. All the SPs are second series cards numbered 49 and above. There appears to be some uncut or partial uncut sheets out there. Most/all of the uncut sheets I saw were 24 cards so maybe each series was printed on two 24 card sheets?

There are 77 on PSA pop report - far greater than any others.

I don't believe the SP stuff; there are so many out there. What is tougher, definitely, are centered copies of certain cards, like Fitzsimmons and Tunney.

Oh man! This is a fantastic piece. The ad back escalates it's appeal dramatically. Very cool.

The only 1951 Ringside I own is the Rocky Marciano I picked up raw from a fellow member.

If you had to pick only one '51 Ringside, it looks like you picked one that doesn't look to shabby. Congrats.
