Unopened pack question/GAI
Years back, I used to have a small collection of vintage unopened baseball packs. I seem to recall Mark Murphy and others telling me there were NO "grocery cellos" made between 1970-74, and that regular cello packs ended in 1969 Yet, on ebay, I have seen quite a few, w GAI labeling. Is GAI being dishonest here in you guys opinion, or were there actually those packs?
Note: I grew up in this era, and recall buying the large packs in their little boxes from 70-72 in baseball and football, then seeing the "writing on wrapper" cellos beginning in 74, so I personally don't recall these "grocery cellos" in that era. |

Check out these threads on the PSA board, they are fake
http://forums.collectors.com/message...rocery%20cello http://forums.collectors.com/message...rocery%20cello FYI legit baseball cello packs from 1970 contain 33 cards (30 for FB) and the 1971 cellos contain 30 cards (27/28 for FB I think), John |
Thank you sir for the links/info. Ebay should pull them off when they are listed then, but I guess, like the huge numbers of bad autographs on there, that it is sometimes a herculean task.

Two people on ebay were selling those packs, One being GAI graded, one not, and they pleaded semi ignorance when I asked them if they guaranteed the packs being real. Whatever.

there are pictures of my 70's baseball cello packs here:
http://www.psacard.com/SetRegistry/a...t.aspx?s=51689 The 70 cello came inside a green 33 count box, the 71 and 72 cellos came in blue boxes. John |
Yeh, thats how I remember them as a pretty little kid, and when I bought some over the later years collecting.
