2003 Topps Chrome Lebron James Value Going Up

So the prices on the 2003 Topps Chrome Lebron James PSA 10 has skyrocketed in recent months, especially the last few weeks. Just a few months ago you could get one for $1500-2500 no problem. Now they are selling for $5500-6500, with one just selling for $7600.

Why do you think they are going up so much right now? Do you think they will continue to go up even more? And will it be sustainable?

If you had one, would you sell now, or hold long term?

It can be very difficult to make sense of all of this.

LeBron did break Kobe's NBA points record, and Kobe congratulated him on his Instagram, and then he was gone. That is obviously one big reason why LeBron's card went up.

Now at the same time, the prices of the 1996 Topps Chrome Kobe rookie are pretty much back to normal - weird.

It's completely bonkers. All high grade LeBron rookies are doubling and tripling in price in just a month's time. I love the guy and have had a number of them for years--Are people now just realizing he has already cemented himself on the Mount Rushmore of athletes in the 21st century?

The entire basketball market is crazy right now and I'm loving it. Giannis Prizm PSA 10s are 2200-2400 already. They were 25 bucks just a few years ago!

Luka's PSA 10 Prizm rookies are approaching $600 already. They were 15-20 bucks raw just over a year ago.

We haven't even mention Zion or Morant.

It is a definite hold. LeBron is having an amazing season. He just out played the reigning MVP and Finals MVP this weekend. He has his team in position for the #1 seed in the West and is one loss behind the Bucks for the best record in the NBA. If he wins another MVP, championship and Finals MVP, his cards will jump again.

Lebron outplayed Giannis? /boggle. Ok. First off, Giannis sprained his knee early in that game, and played through it.

Giannis 32 pts (10 of 21 FG, 11 of 14 FT), 11 rebounds, 6 assists

LeBron 37 pts (12 of 21 FG, 12 of 15 FT), 8 rebounds, 8 assists

Giannis was the only starter to play worth a damn. Middleton, Bledsoe, Lopez and Matthews were a combined 15 for 43 from the floor. Meanwhile, the Lakers got 15 more free throws (funny how the Bucks see a season high in penalties when playing in Los Angeles), and Anthony Davis was better than anybody else the Bucks put on the floor.

Plus, again, Giannis was playing hurt.

The Bucks came into the game 53-9. The Lakers 47-13. Giannis is the runaway MVP, and no media blitz, and no 3 game losing streak where Giannis missed both games, and all 5 starters sat out the third game, is going to change that. Giannis has played 1,763 minutes, and has put up 10.5 win shares, leading the NBA with .282 win shares/48 minutes. Lebron has played 331 more minutes, and yet is a full WS (9.5) behind Giannis. He averages .218 WS/48 minutes played. Giannis' defensive rating (96) is the nest in the NBA. Lebron needs binoculars to see him at 105 DR. And Giannis' PER (player efficiency rating) of 31.6 is best in the NBA, and better than his NBA-best 30.9 last year when he won the MVP. Lebron's PER is 26.0. Their ORTg (offensive rating per 100 possessions) is virtually identical, 116 for Giannis, and 117 for Lebron, while Giannis blows Lebron out of the water on defense.

So, please stop. Lebron is having a great season, but Giannis is by far the best player in the league, on the best team.

Hmm, not sure why it posted that twice.

More points, shot better from the field, better from the line, more assists. Also those raw stats ignore the defense LeBron played on Giannis. How about you break down those numbers? Everything you posted and left out point to LeBron out playing Giannis. It doesn't mean that Giannis didn't have a good game, LeBron just had a better one. If the season hadn't been suspended, LeBron and Giannis were pretty even. Giannis has slightly better numbers because he has a higher usage. He also plays a weaker schedule that helps. Hopefully, we will get a chance to see who really is the better player in a 7 game series when this Corona Virus dies out.
