19th Century Woodcut Collection, with rare h-o-famers, teams--reduced--

13 lots of Harper's/Woodcuts + Bonus [See post #13 below] for $600. Or, individually priced; see below.

The 13 include woodcuts of a couple of dozen hall-of-famers, including Harry and George Wright, 1869 Red Stockings - the first professional championship team (includes the entire publication), Philadelphia, Chicago, St. Louis, and Toronto teams, and many more. All but one are from Harper's Weekly, 1869-1890's, and are unattached in plastic sleeves, on mounting boards, as I received them. Large as they are, they are difficult to package, so I'd prefer to sell them as one group.
But if you'd like a particular team or player[s], individual prices are listed below

I bought these from Moushi in 2019-2020.
Thanks to him for his research and his scans [I'm pretty much of a dinosaur on the computer and I've been unable to scan them myself].
Here's the original thread, including some scans and his nine minute youtube presentation, which shows them all:

First come, first served. "I'll take it" trumps any other negotiations.

Ppff or pay by check. Regular paypal, buyer pays fee.

Here's a detailed list of the 13. Scans can be seen on the above-mentioned youtube thread:

Harper's Weekly, package of 18 pages compiled from the 1890's featuring photos of Collegiate baseball. $50.

Frank Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper, May 23, 1885, p.221: "... Sketches at the Polo Grounds during the League Championship Game between the New York and Detroit Clubs ..." These are six detailed sketches from the stands, of fans, including a policeman chasing boys on a fence, boys on a tree behind it. Great artwork. $100.

As I mentioned, the full page [16"x11"], on cardboard fitted in a plastic sleeve, is difficult to package and expensive to mail. If you don't mind it folded in half [I think I can do this without creasing the fold], you can knock off $10 from the individual price, as it's easier to package and less expensive to send.

Here are some other BST threads of mine with additional cards in different forums; you can combine any/all:

Are there any that are not from Harpers? If so, can you post a list?

dougscats 05-21-2020 05:59 AM

There are four non-Harper's:

Frank Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper, May 23, 1885, p.221: "... Sketches at the Polo Grounds during the League Championship Game between the New York and Detroit Clubs ..." These are six detailed sketches from the stands of fans, including a policeman chasing boys on a fence, with more boys on a tree behind it.

Bonus

Updates: Price has been lowered to $600. Also,

I am adding a bonus woodcut from Harper's, page 185, March 8, 1890, featuring "A Game of Base-Ball in the Thirteenth Regiment Armory, Brooklyn," which covers half the page and is a good depiction of batter and catcher close up, with the pitcher and team in the field, and the Armory grandstands. It has a 3"x3" piece of transparent tape on it which doesn't detract from the image.

This one I tried to scan, as it's folded in half to fit in a binder page. But the 2.5 MB jpg upload failed, for what reason I don't know.
I'm pretty much a dinosaur on the computer and am unable to scan the other pages, so the Mouchi scans and youtube presentation will have to do.
