My 19th Century Base Ball Team Simulation

Hey All,

I decided to put my 19th century card lineup to the test in an all eras league with a 80 million salary cap (based on performance that season of course) over at WhatIfSports. I was able to draft pretty decent versions (seasons) of each of my guys. Sitting at 37-41 with 3 games to go before the All Star break currently. And in case anyone is wondering, Mullane can't hit, McCormick has a very respectable .250 average, and Caruthers is one of my best hitters with a .328 average and 12 RBI (1 HR).

Here are the stats so far:

very interesting and love the cards

Great stuff! I'm not familiar with the platform... is there a way for non-members to check out the league ?

I don't see a way for anyone without a team in the league to view it.

Gotcha... is it free to use? I might try playing around with it..

Each league costs $, but if you win you get a discount on your next league. I've done about 5 leagues so far and it's pretty fun working within the constraints of the budget while drafting any player of any year from the history of baseball.

UPDATE: Officially at the AS Break and I have total of 1 All Star: Tony Mullane

The only award that I may be in the running for is Silver Slugger at Pitcher with Bob Caruthers.

Sounds fun- I'll look into it, thx!

And , if you're interested I could try to set up an OOTP sim with yours and some other teams from that era (no $$, purely for fun)

OK, we're almost ready to start our 1887 season sim using OOTP Baseball. Posting here in case anyone else is interested.

Jeremy's team is on the left (playing as the Pittsburgh Alleghenys) and mine is on the right (playing as the NY Giants). Both teams consist of cards from the era in our collections. We will be competing against the rest of the NL, and the winner will face the AA champion in the World Series. There may be some wonkiness since I'm still learning the program, but I hope it will be fun. Will update once the sim begins.

Interesting stuff thanks and keep it coming

Update #1 on Rad_Hazard and my 1887 season OOTP sim

After one month of the season, my New York Giants are in 1st place in the NL with a 21-7 record. Jeremy's Pittsburgh Alleghenys are 6 games back at 15-13.

Over in the AA, the Louisville Colonels, led by Toad Ramsey and Elton "Ice Box" Chamberlain, are in 1st place with an 18-10 record.

The best hitter in baseball over the first month has been Detroit's Sam Thompson, who is slashing .385/.438/.598.

Here are the overall standings and some statistical highlights from each league:

Interesting stuff! Glasscock was/is vastly underrated, he is raking in the first month!

Your pitching edge definitely has the upper hand on my hitting edge thus far. Doesn't hurt that Gore is knocking the cover off the ball!

Yeah, Glasscock always seems to do well in OOTP. Here are some stats for each of our rosters. The AI set the batting orders and the pitching roles. Will update with another month soon!

Update #3 on Rad_Hazard and my 1887 sim league

We're now three months into the season.

My New York Giants remain atop the NL with a 60-23 record. Jeremy's Pittsburgh Alleghenys are 7 games back at 53-30.

Over in the AA, the Louisville Colonels lead at 50-33, 3 games in front of the Baltimore Orioles.

Ward is trying, but not hard enough lol.

Great stuff! What I wouldn't give to hop in the DeLorean and see these guys in their prime...
