Cleaning signed balls

I just picked up this Carl Hubbell. I knew it was heavily toned, but it was a super price. I have seen some vintage balls where folk have cleaned the ball to snow white, all except the signed panel...thus not disturbing the auto. What do folks think of this method? Leave it toned or clean it up a bit?

How is this done?

Also, if anyone thinks the auto is not authentic, I can still return it. Thoughts?

(It is a Feeney ball)

Hi Casey,
1st of all, your Carl Hubbell signature is 100% authentic.
This is a perfect example of his post-stroke signature.
I would not consider fooling with trying to alter the ball in any way.
Cleaning/bleaching this ball would be an ill-fated decision IMHO.
I hope this helps!

agreed. here's the 2 I have. 1 was signed in person when I sat next to him in the early 1970's as a teenager...on a Feeny ball

Also, sat next to Casey Stengel when they retired Jackie, Campy and Sandy's number. WHAT A MEMORY! He signed my Program 5 times. Including To Charles, From Charles Casey Stengel I had saved all my programs from that Era and Sadly that one is missing.:mad::(:( Great seats my uncle had and I'm glad he gave the Sunday games to my gramps!!!! Too hot in the sun, LOL

Thanks gentleman. I will leave it as is.

To bad you can't find Casey Stengel program. But, you have those wonderful memories and you connected with him. If you offered me a chance to buy a signed Casey signature, or to meet and spend time with him - I would choose meeting him definitely 100% :-)

This ball was listed as Carl 'Hubbard' in the title. The seller was an antique lot of mostly trinkets. Searches for 'Hubbell' wouldn't have found it. That's how I was able to snatch this one up.
