signed magazine/program page restoration

I collect a little bit of lots of things.
One thing about collecting vintage posters is that restorations performed properly (ie with water based reversible materials, with true to the original (waterbased) touch ups, linenbacking [not drymounting]) is considered a positive and value added endeavor.
I know that with sports cards, any restoration is a negative.

I am active on other boards in which autograph collectors have utilized poster restoration services (linenbacking for stability and edge and fold touchups) for autographed magazine pages.
Two Examples, with touched up folds visible in the Ford.

I recently picked-up a personal grail (personalized to me Clemente program page). I am leaning toward utilizing a poster restorer to linen back for stability, touch up some fold creases, and touch up a distracting spot on his nose.

I am interested in hearing others thoughts on the above.

Nothing wrong with doing what you're suggesting as long as you stay away from the autograph, however, it sounds like it's about 8x10 and I would personally just get some nice double matting and a frame and just go with it as is. Looks pretty good to me.

Posters are a different animals as the value is in the poster itself. Any restoration that impacts the poster should impact its value.
I think given that the value of these items is the signature, i dont think that the restoration you describe will likely hurt the value. I also dont think it will increase value much either.
I think the only thing that would hurt it would be restoration that in any way affects the autograph.
And i agree with Mike. I think it looks pretty awesome the way it is now.

Thanks guys.

I know it’s not going to increase the value in anyway. And I definitely will keep their corrections away from the signature, I just wanted to know whether sport people have a different perspective for this kind of piece.
