Beautiful '68s. I sooooo want to find me a nice starter lot to go with the thirty or so I have and start that set in earnest.

That Krause is one of my favorites, really respected him as a player, and a great card.

You guys pull out some great stuff.

I cannot believe it took almost 20 years for Krause to make the HOF. The all-time leader in interceptions, still.

Thank you for this card Sidepocket on net54. Merlin Olsen is was not only a fabulous football player but starred in one of my favorites "little house" which I watched avidly as a kid. Love this card and so glad to have it. Will pass down to my grandson for sure as I always try to catalog cards and express the meaning of them. Does anyone else do this? Cards are meant to be enjoyed and shared and I am so proud to have had a opportunity to get this card. I seen it and thought ………..hey this is Jonathan Garvey on Little house....

Ok sorry to ramble.

Went to the LCS to make some progress on upgrading my '74 set a bit, and this guy was new to the case since the last time I was in. So, got my upgrades and added this, one of my most wanted cards. So nice to be able to buy in person, see exactly what you're getting, be able to measure it, and just support the local shop. Pretty excited about this one.

Thanks guys, If I could now only have that luck finding my 1925 Exhibits Gehrig and my 1966 Bobby Orr.

The hunt continues for those, lol

Blackie 07-05-2021 12:10 PM

Troy don't know much about hockey but I know the 66 Topps and OPC Bobby Orr is probably the flagship card kinda like a 52 Mantle per se

Not a lot of '80s here, so here are a couple pics from the '82 set I just picked up. It sold like a lower end '82, but these cards are razor sharp.

Always loved the helmet on the front design, and somehow I didn't have a Taylor rookie in my childhood collection. That needed remedied :)

I knew nothing about 1972 OPC CFL stickers, but learned they were inserted in packs of 1972 OPC football cards. Ebay win near set (19 of 24 panels) for $25.81 which included shipping or $1.35 each shipped. I guess the tough card is Joe Theismann and he was included.

This card finishes my 1954 Bowman set. I thought I had it finished after the 2019 National. But when I went to put the set in new sheets I found a handful of cards missing. Took awhile but finally found one on eBay to finish it up for real

profholt82 08-09-2021 10:07 AM

I've always liked this card, and finally decided to pick one up. After his rookie, I think it's my favorite Johnny U. I was just looking for a raw, but this was a nice example for the price, cheaper than most of the comparable raws I came across actually. Anyway, I think the black SGC case looks sharp with the black bordered 62s.

Very nice. I agree, such a great card from a super tough set to find in decent shape. And I'm with you on the SGC case as well. I did my entire run of Johnny U. in SGC, the old stuff just looks so good in those cases. Congrats on your great addition.

I love that card. Aside from the flowing sideburns, flip it over for one of the best Topps cartoons ever. They bust his chops about the womanizing. It's a classic.

Another set finished. Paid a bit more than I wanted but seems the price kept creeping up

Making an effort to finish off a handful of football sets where I don’t need to spend stupid money.

This is the third set I’ve completed since the start of the National. 1964 and 1965 Topps next. 1963 Fleer will be harder since I need Len Dawson there along with a few others

I have a couple of Browns team issue cards from that era. I rarely see them, but then again I'm never really looking for them.

Congratulations on completing the set.

Recent pick up now have 24 of the 36 cards in the set HOF rookie card Ken Strong. This one is hole punched AND date stamped FEB 2 1936. I wonder if there was some kind of candy store promotion going on?

Looking at Trippi's uniform one has to wonder why his face is clean and his nose isn't broken.

As for Lavelli, are "Gluefingers" the football equivalent of the spitball?:D

reverse spitball. LOL For those too young to remember, glue was allowed (well, not banned) on receivers hands. I used to watch Fred Biletnikoff use a ton of glue for each game. Pretty sure they had to throw out the ball after each catch.

i was told by an older collector that the date stamp on the back was for theatre admission. i have no evidence to support that, but i have seen numerous chicles over the years with similar date stamps.
i believe the hole is a hole. LOL

true. Fred kept a reserve stash of stickum on his socks. Jack Tatum was covered in it. Tatum could catch a ball without using his hands

andybecker 10-01-2021 08:12 PM

actually, i'm wrong. it wasn't Tatum (though he used it too), it was Lester Hayes. Lester was covered in it.

Really excited about this pick-up. Big fan and collector of the Kellogg's issues, and like the '71 baseball, the the '71 football is a monster to get in nice shape. My LCS knows me well, and took these in and made them available to me. Thirty-nine different '71s, all NM with no cracking except for two, so thirty-seven additions to my NM set, putting me at 48/60. A little curl, but not bad, and they all fit together like a glove in that stack, so guess they have been together for quite some time. Anyway, made my day, thanks for the look.

This appears to be the "sister" card to the pick-up I had a couple weeks ago of #7 Ken Strong which I posted. I bid and won the Ken Strong card, I bid and lost this Bernie Masterson card. The new owner of this card paid $147 plus shipping plus tax and put it right back up on ebay. I won it the second time around for $150 plus shipping plus tax. High number and last card in the set.
