Another butcher job by Topps 1 of 1 Nellie fox card
Saw this on Ebay https://www.ebay.com/itm/37346460765...MakeTrack=true It's just mind blowing looking at this card that someone at Topps actually thinks this is a great looking product where they cut up an index card and just butcher it to make it fit in their card just to make it a 1 of 1 which I am not sure even the fascination of that but everybody has their own view. Even the person buying it who wants to show a friend or family member what they just bought and show them that card and they've got to be thinking "what are you thinking". No disrespect to the seller he's just selling the card that he got and doesn't want it anymore it's the buyer that's the strange one.

You're welcome. Doug "It's not that hard" Goodman |
I don’t know why anyone would want that in their collection
|
What a joke.
|
One the bright side, there is only one of them. ;)

Not sure what the final price on this will be but you would think if you want a Nellie Fox signed index card you can buy them all day long for 150.00 or less minus the guys on Ebay that have been sitting on them for years at over 200.00 instead of buying that piece of crap of some unkown player named "elson Fox". Ive had probably over 10 index cards of his over the past few years and bought all of them from 50.00 to 120.00. Maybe if I take one of the ones I have now and cut it up to "elson Fox" I can sell it to the underbidder

It's amazing that a piece of garbage like this actually has 9 bids on it.

I hope that isn't what the ladies call you! |
Just another endless example of collectors valuing perceived scarcity and brand loyalty over product quality and even player appreciation.
"Check out my slabbed 1/1 HOF collection! All Pop 1!" vs. "Check out my rolodex of HOF index cards!" |

Person that bought this card paid $413. I'd like to ask them why they think this card is worth $413 and see what their reply is whether it's a dealer or a private collector. I get it everybody has their own value for a collectible and wants to spend whatever they want it's their money but it's mind blowing when a 3 x5 card of Nellie Fox like that is 100-150 all day long. A 1 of 1 Nellie Fox 3 by 5 card has no value in the $400 range. They aren't scarce until the topps brainchild puts a 1 of 1 on the card. Even with them putting a 1 of 1 on a card topps isn't making any more money it's the retail value that's making the money.

Hope the fellow or person does not show their sig other and say "look what I spent $400 on today!" That's a beat down waiting to happen...:p |
Here's a real beauty. I could get medieval on the guy who did this.

The fact that they butchered and then hid a good portion of Fox' autograph? or The fact that somebody paid actual money for this piece of sh*t? Same for the Gehrig in Heritage, except to a far greater extent. |
I found another chop shop product in the Memory Lane auction that just ended, this one of Roger Maris.
https://memorylaneinc.com/site/bids/...e?itemid=60483 The MVP card is one of the keys to the set. Maris didn't have a large window to sign, and now there's one less out there. |
Here's a fun one. This was posted on Facebook. Guy wants $20k for it as it's 1/1. States he is going to send it to an auction house if it doesn't sell there.
Sad part is that he just might get it from someone with too much money and not enough brain cells.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...6e71a961ea.jpg Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk |

It is definitely a bubble when a Fox autographed card sells for $413!
|
Yeah I have 12 Fox autographs on various items never paid more than 175 for any of them

I think that Mantle is worse than the Fox.
"1/1" what a load of nonsense, it looks like a poorly cut signature from the era of when Mantle was signing at conventions, so it isn't even that rare, I'm not really sure what that inscription, if you can even call it that, is after his last name. I suppose the small swatches of jersey and bat are nice but what really takes the cake is the fact that being a Panini product (I believe), they don't have the rights to using team logo's, which is why Mantle is in a generic navy blue cap and grey uniform with no "New York" across the chest. If he gets 20K for that, I might as well make my own cut signature "One of One" Mantle card, as I have as much rights to the Yankees as this card company does. It's an absolute travesty. |
I agree. I think he is being a bit silly. People on facebook are telling him $2-4k for it. Even that seems crazy for a cut up autograph. Apparently, he has it listed on eBay for $35k.
Here are a couple other photos he posted.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...0a22b194ef.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...dcfc9d1983.jpg Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk |
