I need to final "big four" for my Presidential collection and went ahead and added these pieces of 3/4. I thought they were a fun collectible to add to the collection. Found a dealer that had some great examples. They display very nicely!!

Signed T206 Players

Really enamored with my latest T206 player autograph. This Ollie Pickering almost looks like a signed pre-war card—maybe black & white unissued T206 batting proof? Really happy with this one.

Always looking to add to my signed T206 player collection, if anyone has any to offer!

Very nice pickup of the man they named the Texas Leaguer after.

This just arrived in today's mail. I bought the raw card here a couple months ago, and sent it to Mr. Carlton to sign. Got it back in less than two weeks!

Very nice placement of the signature, nice to see that Mr. Carlton cared where he signed that card.

1919 White Sox Mascot/Batboy & Clubhouse Boy(s)

2 Attachment(s)
I picked up an Eddie Bennett signature from a net54 member for my most expensive transaction on here and it was so smooth!
I also recently picked up these two signed photos Ephraim "Sharkey" Colledge and his brother Art "Jack" "Sharkey" Colledge (from 1936)

The Colledge brothers were both nicknamed Sharkey and worked for the White Sox as kids in 1906 and both retired in 1966, Ephraim was long time equipment and clubhouse manager and Art worked it looks like on and off ending up the visiting clubhouse manager.

Both, and even a 3rd brother Harry, are present in the official 1933 American League All-Star game photo...and one of them is the 1919 White Sox team picture that appeared in the World Series program and 1920 Reach Guide...though it's pretty impossible to tell which one as he was only IDed as "Sharkey, clubhouse boy".

These two with Eddie Bennett who was a mascot/batboy for the 1919 White Sox and likely one of the boys on the far left in the same team photo make for some obscure and hard to find examples of people associated and present in one 1919 White Sox team photo...anyway I am excited to land all 3 of these.

mr2686 03-08-2021 09:03 PM

If I remember correctly, Eddie Bennett was also the bat boy for the Yankees for many years, including the 1927 team.

Yes sir, 1919 White Sox, 1920 Brooklyn Robins and in 1921 started a long stint with the Yankees

I'll have to check next time I am reunited with my collection but I believe I might have an autograph book compiled by Eddie Bennett i

Just in from the Nolan Ryan Foundation. Could not be happier with how it turned out:

Nice one Packs! How long did it take the Foundation to send it back?

packs 03-12-2021 07:25 AM

Thanks, guys. I highly recommend working with the foundation on any items you have that you want to get signed. Fairly straightforward process. Took about a month after they received the card.

cnote08 03-12-2021 09:30 AM

I got back an 8x10 that was at the Nolan Ryan Foundation for 3 weeks. Even had very nice correspondence from an individual there.

Decided to finish off my Mattingly rookie run. The Donruss and Fleer are new. I managed to snag the Topps at spring training one year:

Excited to finally cross this one off the want list! Makes 4.5 out of 8 Black Sox (.5 for my Mrs Joe Jackson). Now need to hope the Lefty Williams check comes back up for sale.

Thomas, that's just a thing of beauty. I'm extremely jealous. Where did you end up finding that one?

A net54 member.

mr2686 03-17-2021 12:24 PM

Thomas, the auto looks perfect to me, but I'm curious about the date on the bottom. Anything known about that?

mr2686 03-17-2021 12:37 PM

Nevermind, I found the answer from Sabr.

Many baseball historical resources list Felsch’s birth date as August 22, 1891, or unspecified dates in 1893 or 1894. However, his 1943 application for a Social Security number and his 1964 death certificate both state that he was born on April 7, 1891, to Berlin natives Charles and Marie Felsch (nee Tietz or Tiegs).2 Charles was a north side carpenter

Ya birthday. It is also 4-7-1891 on his WW1 and WW2 draft cards

Congratulations Thomas! That is an amazing addition.

Almost embarrassed to show this compared to the other great stuff, but I got this one back today from a private signing. Had the unsigned magazine for awhile and thought I'd get it signed. Just missed Sal Bando, but will get him eventually along with Reggie. This one's kinda hard to find without a mailing label.

Last minute pickup. Nice strong sig on a Coleman ball. This brings my 1955 Dodger single signed baseballs to 14. I have 10 more spots in the 2 cases on my Brooklyn wall, fortunately, some are very easy.

BillyCoxDodgers3B 03-17-2021 08:26 PM

So does that make 6 Karl Spooners, 4 Bert Hamrics, 3 Frank Kellerts and this Jim Hughes? ;)

LOL. Yeah, with those guys on single signed balls I'd be able to sell the excess and fund the rest of my projects for awhile. You do see those 3 in other forms more today than in very long time. Used to be much harder to find, but I think less people are collecting the 55 Dodgers. Such a shame.

Cool Ollie Pickering autograph...

Nice pickup there of Pickering, the first batter in American League history! Here's a link to a letter handwritten by Pickering.

Deacon Phillippe

2 Attachment(s)
Here's Deacon Phillippe's signature on a government postcard from 1948. He sure had an interesting career. He grew up in the Dakota Territory before it split into to and became a state. It was so remote that big league talent evaluators didn't find him until he moved to Minnesota.

Phillippe threw his first pitch in the majors two months before his 27th birthday. He still put up six 20-win seasons. He still holds the record for lowest walk per nine rate and many World Series records. Here's a story about how his late big league start probably cost him a chance at Cooperstown.

This Phillippe signature is on CooperstownExpert.com on Phillippe's page. The autograph site has pages for every Hall of Famer and a few hundred other guys.

Nice one, Jim! I am a huge fan of Deacon Phillippe.
Here is an early snapshot of The Deacon and his catcher George Gibson

Picked up a Mookie Betts rookie auto card. Does anyone know why Betts stopped signing for the card companies after 2015?

You might have the best Sharkey autograph pieces out there! Ephraim did a 1959 newspaper interview that touched on that Black Sox time. See that text near the end of my investigation into their team photo & team card appearances.

Mike - Nice one from a fellow A's guy! However, Bando's gonna be a little tough unless you've got some really, and I mean REALLY good connections.

:-)

He was one of the early athletes that Fanatics signed to an exclusive deal. I assume when the Topps/Fanatics merger is 100% complete we will see him back.

Edit: Had no idea this was three years old. Whoops.
