What to have graded?

Ok so I got some cards a couple of years ago after our family had to put my great uncle in an assisted living facility. My dad let me know he found some old baseball cards. I said they were probably junk but to look for some dates. Dad said he seen a lot from the 50’s.

I told him to hang on to them and let me look at them. I was pretty excited and thought he had something real good!!! Well it turns out dad was looking at the players birth dates on the card and they were boxes of 80’s cards. I opened a box that just happened to be 1988 donruss. I never looked at any others except to look inside and see they were modern sets, junk wax!

Great uncle has since passed. This evening I decided to look inside and figure out what I had and if anyone was interested before giving to a kid or throwing away.

These are very minty sets! Is there any value with selling the sets? Do I just pull out the big rookies and get graded? I did see Ripken rc on eBay

If I do bust them up what cards do I need to look for?

Thanks for any help

Unless you think the rookie HOFers will get 10s I would just sell the 82 and 83 sets the way they are. The 88s I would give to anyone who would take them.

Thanks and just noticed the 88 fleer is 83 not 88.

I knew the 88 donruss were junk for sure. I collected them as a kid lol. Lots of good memories though.

If you don't grade anything I might be interested in the 3 1983 sets depending on shipped price.

I’ll keep that in mind. I’m sure shipping can get expensive with sets.

Well, the 1983 sets have the Gwynn, Boggs, and Sandberg RCs. So those are pretty good value, depending on condition. Each have been selling for over $1,000 each in PSA 10, but those are hard to get grades even with perfect cards.

I'm sure there would be some interest in facebook groups.
