More stuff....
I've taken on a couple of Red Sox team sets, but never a Patriots one. I've had the '68 Cappelletti for a long time, so when I stumbled upon a great bargain on the 68 Jim Nance RC in the BST a couple weeks ago and looked and saw the team checklist is only 8 cards for that set, I decided to "tackle" it. One complaint I have is that the set doesn't include Houston Antwine. The D-lineman was voted to the first team AFL all-time team and he's included in 1964, 65, 66, 67 and 69 and 70 Topps, just not 68. Despite his omission though, the team set includes 2 AFL MVPs (Cappelletti & Nance) and a HOFer (Nick Buoniconti), so I'm excited about it. Here are 2 additions that arrived this past weekend. I love the rough cut on the Graham. http://i.imgur.com/xb8NJJP.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/bkeGIBM.jpg Here are the ones I previously added: http://i.imgur.com/nnyltWO.jpghttps://caimages.collectors.com/psai...appelletti.jpg |
Picked up some 55 Bowmans on the bay for my raw set.

Great stuff, guys and thanks for the kind words about the Slingin' Sammies. Here's some other cards I've picked up recently. Not all are in hand yet.

Not sure why the McAfee keeps coming up so tiny? But, oh well.

And a couple of more pick ups in today's mail.

1952 Bowman Small #16 Frank Gifford RC arrived yesterday via eBay purchase. Leaves me needing just one more card to complete my set (#48 George Halas RC). I looked for both of these cards at the National, and I saw plenty of them. But they were all priced above what I could get the card on eBay.
This card was a BIN $79 with free shipping. Bought it during a 10% eBay bucks promotion, so it cost $71.10 or 21.8% NM "book" price of $325. The card WAS in an SGC holder SGC40 VG 3 until I cracked it out so it would fit in the cardboard box lol. http://www.net54baseball.com/picture...ictureid=23011 http://www.net54baseball.com/picture...ictureid=23012 |

Beautiful cards. Love that Namath photo.

I picked this up a couple weeks ago but I'm way behind on my scanning. This is another monster card, in case you don't collect football and didn't know. HOF RC and also a SP. Completes My Pats HOF RC registry for now: https://www.psacard.com/PSASetRegist...timeset/214635

I finished up '66 Topps and have commenced operations on a '65 Philadelphia set. The first one from that set arrived today. I have several more on the way for next week! I need to get those '66s in some uniform CardSaver Is asap. Fun, fun!
|
My favorite Warfield card, Robert! What a way to start you set.
Congrats on your Topps 66 set. Looking good. jeff |

The moment I saw that Warfield, I was hooked. It made me take a closer look at the rest of the '65 Philadelphia set. There is some great photography in there! The Eller card is cool, too (it will be here next week [emoji2][emoji2]). The idea of adding the NFL cards from '65 to the AFL cards from the Topps set ultimately appealed to me as well. I may go that route with '66 as well. This '65 set will be exmt-nm, with some graded stars but mostly ungraded cards in Cardsaver Is. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk |
Congrats on finishing the set!

A few pickups for my '65 Philadelphia set. Mr. Eller got a bit crooked during the scanning process, but you get the idea. And Mr. Perkins does not have a scratch on his forehead..weird.
|
You are on a roll, Robert! Keep'em coming.
jeff |
Very nice, love the Philly sets, and a belated WOW on the Warfield.
|
Thanks, guys. I am enjoying what I am collecting now more than I have in a long time. Football has been a good move for me. So much good stuff and most of it is relatively affordable.

You're gonna have to change your Net54 UID if you keep this up, Robert! jeff |

If I had known then I would go the football route, I probably wouldn't have selected such a baseball oriented UID. [emoji2] I may just end up being "that guy with the baseball name" on the football board. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk |

I knew the Aguilitas cards from the boxers. I've not seen any others and online all I could find were two auctions (REA and Ryan's) for the baseball version. I don't know if those Marines are USMC (Gitmo perhaps) or Cuban. |

I've been adding some HOF RCs.

Adam, that Cuban card is ridiculously cool!
|
I've been looking for a nicely centered Namath, which has been a chore.

Great pickups, guys! Love that Namath and that Cuban football team PC is awesome, Adam.

1952 Bowman small #48 George Halas RC completes my set! The Standard Catalog places the NM "value" at $200, and my eBay auction bid of $33.46 (shipped free) won the card for me at 16.73% of "book". Looking at eBay past sales of this card, it looks like I did ok, and I'm glad to put this set to rest!
Larry http://www.net54baseball.com/picture...ictureid=23155http://www.net54baseball.com/picture...ictureid=23156 |
Congrats Larry! Seems like every week you finish up another tough set.
You are really rolling. jeff |
Congrats on finishing your set!
|
Card, set, and match go to Larry - congrats!

Nice Tarkenton. He is one of those guys I grew up watching but was never a huge fan, but over the years have come to appreciate him more, and have a few of his cards graded and looking for more. That's a nice one, and was probably a good deal due to the OC, but I'll take cards that look like that with an OC all day long.
|
Nice Tarkenton. Can't seem to share from Photobucket..... ARGHH!

Not sure what is wrong with Photobucket but LuckyLarry for all of your posts; this is what I see.

Hey Dan! Hows it going?
I believe Photo Bucket now wants to charge you for uploading and storing photos. That's why you see those "update" messages. |
As for some a few latest pick ups.....
I had a nice NM 68 Butkus, but spotted this one at a good price. https://www.unisquare.com/img/main/1...22ae4c488n.jpg I also Had a BGS 7.5 Ditka, but I spotted this one with much better centering and grabbed it. https://www.unisquare.com/img/main/1...7607cd603n.jpg And just when your about to give up hope of ever finding super high quality cards in the wild I stumbled across these beauties! I guess persistent searching does pay off! ;) https://www.unisquare.com/img/main/1...0816e7757n.jpg John |

Regarding the lack of images tied to photofucket - so a person that is simply viewing the images can't see them unless a user of photofucket (like Larry) pays for the 3rd party? If that's the case then every photofucket user needs to leap over to an alternative site like Imgur that provides a FREE and easy way to host images. Regarding your images (just above here) - there are NO images at all not even a placemarker that should show an image should be there error like Larry's. |
Quote:
Lets all sing it in unison Dan. "oh say can you see...... Im currently hosting my photos on the Unisquare auction site, not all that convenient though. Imgur? Might have to check that sight out. Are you saying you can not see any of my photos or Roger Staubach signature line? Too bad Net54 is lagging behind. Most boards allow you to post photos directly from your computer. |
1950 Bread for Health Sammy Baugh
This was my white whale that I finally got. When one does show up, I'm usually the underbidder or it way out my budget.

I cannot see your photos BUT can see your two flags with Roger "never took a knee" Staubach in between the two flags. 1. Net54 allows you to upload images directly to the thread response. Go to new reply and look for the little mountain icon and you can see the tab to select to upload photos. 2. Imgur.com is super easy to use and highly recommend it. You can easily create folders and upload images in bulk or individually in to each folder. If you upload a lot of images at a time it can get a little flaky for some reason but I think I typically upload about 10 photos at a time. |
Quote:
|
What so proudly we hailed.....
Super pick up on the Sammy Baugh Jason! Dan, I do go to that mountain icon, but you have to enter a URL address where the photo's are stored and can not upload photos directly from your own computer. Can you see my 1968 FB photos Posted earlier in the thread above now? John |
Thank you. I still can't believe I finally own one now, I just have to figure out the next whale.

Love your card with Roger Staubach that says real heroes don't take a knee!!! that has been hurting and bothering me for quite some time in which Im Done with the NFL . Very nice cards brother!!!! |
at the twilight's last gleaming, whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight, O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming....
----------- John - the weird thing is that I cannot see what you posted (photos) but can see them in Blackies response commenting just above here. (head scratch) Nevermind on little mountain thing - you're right it requires a URL = I recommend Imgur.com over photofucket (free vs. mandatory subscription) |

Love the Kellogg's Pep Stamps, Peter! Nice pickup on that Nags. Been working on that set for some time and its hard to finish.
jeff |
I also love the Pep panel!
Here is my latest Murad pickup and my favorite card in the entire set: https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/play...ile.php?id=937 |
Those Murads are cool, Dan. I collect vintage lacrosse cards, and I've got the 3-4 from that set.
|
And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there..... More VERY cool items guys! Blackie(Rob) Im with ya......... You quoted my 68 Topps pics Rob, I assume you were able to see the pics? DAN Not sure whats going on with the pics on your end. I do have an Imgur account and will be trying to use it for hosting my pic, but im still trying to verse myself in using it. As for one of my latest pick ups? The lase card I needed to complete my 1957 Set. Ironically its also the last card IN the set. https://i.imgur.com/xvxLAok.jpg |

Congrats again, that label is a tough one. jeff |
Which labels did you pick up? I tried on the Luckman last night but I was the underbidder.

O say does that star-spangled banner yet wave.
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.... ------------ John, The latest image (below) I can see perfectly. Not sure what is different this time vs. prior times. Great looking pickup - you have a great eye for nicely centered cards with pristine corners. Congrats! Quote:

Todays mail brought this eBay win. The card "books" for $80 NM and the seller accepted my $25 offer, and shipped it for free. 31% of "book" is more than I like to shell out, but previous eBay sales show I did OK I think.
Just SIX more cards until my '63 Fleer set is complete! Larry http://www.net54baseball.com/picture...ictureid=23348http://www.net54baseball.com/picture...ictureid=23349 |
