More stuff....

I've taken on a couple of Red Sox team sets, but never a Patriots one. I've had the '68 Cappelletti for a long time, so when I stumbled upon a great bargain on the 68 Jim Nance RC in the BST a couple weeks ago and looked and saw the team checklist is only 8 cards for that set, I decided to "tackle" it.

One complaint I have is that the set doesn't include Houston Antwine. The D-lineman was voted to the first team AFL all-time team and he's included in 1964, 65, 66, 67 and 69 and 70 Topps, just not 68. Despite his omission though, the team set includes 2 AFL MVPs (Cappelletti & Nance) and a HOFer (Nick Buoniconti), so I'm excited about it. Here are 2 additions that arrived this past weekend. I love the rough cut on the Graham.

And a couple of more pick ups in today's mail.

LuckyLarry 08-15-2017 04:46 AM

1952 Bowman Small #16 Frank Gifford RC arrived yesterday via eBay purchase. Leaves me needing just one more card to complete my set (#48 George Halas RC). I looked for both of these cards at the National, and I saw plenty of them. But they were all priced above what I could get the card on eBay.
This card was a BIN $79 with free shipping. Bought it during a 10% eBay bucks promotion, so it cost $71.10 or 21.8% NM "book" price of $325. The card WAS in an SGC holder SGC40 VG 3 until I cracked it out so it would fit in the cardboard box lol.

Thank you, Jeff. I had fun finishing that '66 Topps set. I really thought I was going to build a Fleer set next, but my last couple of sets were AFL sets. While I really, really like the AFL sets, I wanted to branch out.

The moment I saw that Warfield, I was hooked. It made me take a closer look at the rest of the '65 Philadelphia set. There is some great photography in there! The Eller card is cool, too (it will be here next week [emoji2][emoji2]).

The idea of adding the NFL cards from '65 to the AFL cards from the Topps set ultimately appealed to me as well. I may go that route with '66 as well. This '65 set will be exmt-nm, with some graded stars but mostly ungraded cards in Cardsaver Is.

Jeff, I actually thought of that very thing. I have been a Net54 member with this name a little over 4 1/2 years. It isn't like I know that many other people on Net54 or even post a lot, but it would feel like starting over to switch. I would be like the member formerly known as....

If I had known then I would go the football route, I probably wouldn't have selected such a baseball oriented UID. [emoji2] I may just end up being "that guy with the baseball name" on the football board.

1952 Bowman small #48 George Halas RC completes my set! The Standard Catalog places the NM "value" at $200, and my eBay auction bid of $33.46 (shipped free) won the card for me at 16.73% of "book". Hey John - good to see you. So I'm up early today, sang God Bless America and said my Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag I have out front. Isn't America AWESOME? It sure is. God Bless!!!!

Regarding the lack of images tied to photofucket - so a person that is simply viewing the images can't see them unless a user of photofucket (like Larry) pays for the 3rd party? If that's the case then every photofucket user needs to leap over to an alternative site like Imgur that provides a FREE and easy way to host images.

Regarding your images (just above here) - there are NO images at all not even a placemarker that should show an image should be there error like Larry's.

by the dawn's early light....

I cannot see your photos BUT can see your two flags with Roger "never took a knee" Staubach in between the two flags.

1. Net54 allows you to upload images directly to the thread response. Go to new reply and look for the little mountain icon and you can see the tab to select to upload photos.

2. Imgur.com is super easy to use and highly recommend it. You can easily create folders and upload images in bulk or individually in to each folder. If you upload a lot of images at a time it can get a little flaky for some reason but I think I typically upload about 10 photos at a time.
