Say It Ain't So Joe....Orlando

It has long been suspected that PSA holders are anything but tamperproof and can even be duplicated. With the information that has come to light in this thread...
http://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=169575
there appears to be at least one group who has learned to reproduce PSA holders that are identical to the real thing.

Mr. Orlando, what will your response to this matter be? Surely you can't continue to bury your head in the sand and act as if nothing is wrong. Many of us in the hobby would like to know your plans going forward to remedy this problem that could potentially undermine the credibility of the industry's most respected TPG.

I realize a post such as this would be deleted from the CU boards and I am grateful that Leon allows us all to express ourselves freely.

The quotes by David Hall and Joe Orlando in this press release are priceless:

Holy old freaking news

Why don't we just talk about the sgc Doyle. Boy this is old news, not like all but bgs/bvg aren't way to easy to do this with.

instead of vaccuum sealed holders it could be an inert gas that is inserted under a vaccuum type conditions, rendering it a different color around the border or so forth than if it is cracked open. make it tougher for people to switch cards. they need to make it cost prohibitive to switch cards. if they had a million dollar machine that was needed to do this a certain proprietary way but in a way that could be easily checked by the average collector to make sure it is a psa genuinely sealed holder, then it would be worth it to amortize and pay for the machine or process over the long run because they are slabbing millions of cards, but a counterfeiter would find it too expensive, and that's that.

but lets just keep doing it this way.

You do know that governments fight the same battle against counterfeiters and usually the anti counterfitting measures are duplicated very quickly right?. Some even before the official release of the new notes.

While all the companies could do more, it's a losing battle once there's enough money to be had.
