Bond Bread J Robinson: 3 rounded and a Square

If you haven't seen this on ebay, is this a trimmed square corner? This BVG Robinson 5.5 is crazy looking. How did it get a 5.5 even then?! With 46 hours left, it's at $540.

Probably a square corner reprint with 3 trimmed / rounded corners.

Dodgy!

Boy that looks dodgy... you can almost see the scissor marks on the top right corner. Amazing that this made it into a holder....

A Beckett holder, so not so much...At least PSA requires you to finish the trimming before they misgrade it.

I've seen a '47 Bond Bread with a hanging chad corner where the die didn't complete the
cut. This ain't that.

Sold for $2426 on 41 bids. Someone cornered the market.

This is the exact same card that sold for about $800 less in the Fall REA Auction. The card looks good to me. The corner cuts vary widely on these cards, including some corners that get missed like this example. As to whether this card deserves this grade with these corners, that seems like a valid topic for debate.

I think this is a real Bond Bread card, but it seems like it should get a MC designation since it's supposed to have four rounded corners.

I suspect this card would have been graded an 'A' by SGC. I've seen a bunch of SGC 'A's that make me scratch my head. I think they are not given a number grade because of 'irregular' corners, but the fact is that irregular corners are a regular trait of this issue.

Getting it in a Beckett slab seems to have been a wise financial decision.

Seeing they will no longer grade the square corner variation, this just leads me to sit in awe. And if this sold in the fall, the auction house didn't do a good job of alerting buyers to the controversy surrounding it.
