The Convention is in AC next year and there won't be a Net54 banquet there as I most likely won't be attending. I doubt I go back to AC again for a National.....

I am going to bring a +1, since there is a cancellation

trdcrdkid 08-02-2019 03:33 PM

It looks like I will be bringing my 11-year-old stepdaughter Gabriella, who went to the show with me today and had a good time.

Leon 08-02-2019 03:56 PM

Still fine if additional folks want to come. Looking forward to a good time....

Thanks Leon it was a lot of fun.

Good to meet you Leon and some other members. Had a nice time. But for the life of me, I don't remember who the other speakers were....outside of Josh??

taul166 08-04-2019 04:18 PM

Thank you. I enjoyed meeting some new folks, the food/drink, and speakers.

Great time. Thank you to Leon and the sponsors.

Thanks Leon for organizing the Net54 Banquet it did not disappoint! Thanks to Heritage Auctions and Love of the Game for their support.

There seemed to be more food this year and I thought the pizza was pretty good! There were even some more healthy choices available. At my table I sat with some Post football and baseball experts it was fantastic experience all around.

The speakers Mark A his stories were great and I stopped by his table the next day but he did not have his Ernie Banks card in hand so I could see it.

The comedian (Adam correct?) was HILARIOUS this was the first time I've ever seen stand up live. Knowing something about his subject matter (cards and collecting and scandals) really helped, no topics seemed to be off base lol. He is great and hope he is invited back!

I enjoyed Josh E too, and after he spoke he opened it up for questions from Net54 members in attendance. I snapped Josh E picture from my seat I hope it is ok to post.

Thanks again Leon I'm really glad I went!

I just want to commend Josh Evans of Lelands for having the guts of getting up their and responding to some really tough questions from the crowd. He alone was worth the price of admission.

lowpopper 08-05-2019 03:54 PM

Josh had no obligation to get up on the mic.

It was much appreciated.

Now that's funny.

Are you the idiot who sued PSA for like 8K?

CuriousGeorge 08-05-2019 05:54 PM

$4800 excuse me. Lawyers who sue companies for $4800 shouldn’t be running their mouths. They should be trying to figure out how to pay the mortgage.

CuriousGeorge 08-05-2019 06:31 PM

I just don’t get the big mouth behind someone’s back. Be a big boy and say it to their face. Didn’t anyone teach you jealousy is a very ugly trait? I mean no one makes fun of you because you’re unsuccessful do they? So why start?

I too enjoyed meeting and listening to Josh. I believe what Adam was joking about was the irony of the statement as there was no "price of admission". The event was free. After watching Adam's stand up routine at the event and speaking with him at length (Hi Adam) I certainly get the feeling he isn't the sort to hide behind a keyboard.

Exactly. It was an unintentionally backhanded compliment.

Still don't get it. "Worth the price of admission" isn't literal in the original context, is it? It's just an idiomatic expression. Maybe I'm obtuse.

larrie804 08-06-2019 04:28 AM

Next year

The n
National will be in Atlantic City next year. BTW Leon thanks for everything!

It was a joke!!! Had no idea my comment would draw so much attention. Thanks again to Leon for aligning this up and finding sponsors.

The dinner is free. I'm sure nothing was meant by the original statement it was just being used as an expression, and Adam just enjoyed it because, well, it's amusing that someone said he was worth the price of admission when there was none. Man everyone is uptight.

EDIT:OK this is why you should read the whole thread before posting. What they said^

PS. Adam, are you doing stand up professionally? I did for a while a million years ago while I was acting. Wish I could've heard you!

Because admission is free. It is a very old joke.

EDIT: like everyone else I should have read the other posts before replying.:)
