1972 Topps uncut partial sheets
About 25 years ago I bought these cheap at show - a couple 4-card strips of uncut cards and other miscellaneous uncut cards from 1972. Does anyone know if uncut cards from '72 are common? I have never seen any others anywhere and I have no idea where or how someone could have obtained them to begin with. Thanks for looking.

Could these be part of a formally uncut sheet from the 6th series that someone long ago cut into 4 (or 2) card panels? I have never seen an uncut sheet from the sixth series...

Ok, uncut sheets from early series seem to be common, but not a single uncut anything from the sixth series. I think I'm sitting on a gold mine here.....or not.

I have quite a few partial sheets with Lou Brock on them, but none from 72. My guess is that someone somehow 40 years ago cut the sheet up for a wide variety of reasons.
I picked up my partial sheets, some of which have been on the Lou Brock thread, for less than $10. They were all late 70's though. As a player collector if there was a player I wanted, I would buy it as a "Variation" of the card, as long as the price was reasonable. |
A 132 card panel of uncut players with wrong backs from 1972 just sold a week ago for $257. Perhaps that will give you a sense of valuation...

I recently bought about 3K 1972s from an original owner. His dad owned a Ben Franklin store back at the time, and he worked there during the summer and after school. He remembered from opening wax cases that small uncut sheets were actually used as packing material, and thrown away. In the cards that he sold me, there were some hand cut high series cards...I'll have to look this evening to see if they were the high series or semi-high.
