Lowdy up for sale again already?
|
How do you register? I can't find it.

They certainly went waaaaaaaaay overboard with the hyperbole. I wish they'd give it a rest and just describe the cards accurately. Why in heck are they calling that '52 Mantle dead centered???? Do we not have eyes, REA???
|
Looking forward to this one.
Great card Pete, good luck! |

that t210 jackson should not be a sgc 30 it is a sgc 10 because of paper loss on the back

Darren, I can see that while the centering is close to perfect you are correct that it is not literally perfect. The very early previews are always preliminary descriptions and we do often tweak them a little as we find (on our own or in response to feedback) errors to correct or improvements to make. We appreciate feedback. In this case the description will be slightly modified:
“This NM-MT+ 8.5 example is virtually "dead centered" (which is almost unheard of for #311 Mantles), while many of the PSA MINT 9 examples actually have a pronounced natural image "tilt" and/or significant centering issues (pushing 60/40 centering L/R in some cases). Comparing this PSA NM-MT+ 8.5 card to images of PSA MINT 9 Mantles, we believe it would be impossible not to appreciate its superior centering and visual appeal.” I can’t promise that some of our catalog descriptions won’t be a little over the top – we can’t help it! - but I can promise that our enthusiasm for these items is sincere! We are still hard at work on the catalog and still getting last minute items in daily. I hope you and everyone will enjoy the auction when it comes out. Sincerely, Robert Lifson Robert Edward Auctions LLC www.robertedwardauctions.com |
Good luck, Rob. The items in the preview alone make for an amazing auction.

Rob, looking forward to seeing all the auction contents
Great preview so far |
Can we see the 1915 CJ Cobb :)
Anything else for us who have budgets a bit lower then the main preview ;)
Great stuff, and waiting for the bible in the mail That Mantle is just awful lol |
I desire the 1863 "Grand Match at Hoboken" Harry Wright card. Gotta say, that would be my all-time dream card! Curious as to what it will go for?

Anxious to see results

When does it start up / end?

When people are taking out micrometers to measure centering, we have lost our hobby to the paranoia of perfect centering, perfect gloss, gem mint 10, etc.. it's ridiculous. Pretty soon someone will say it is not perfect centering, it is 49.9995 and 50.0005. Think about it, mint wasn't a good enough designation, someone had to come up with gem mint, and that wasn't good enough, someone had to come up with pristine. How about untouched by oxygen, from the press directly into a hermetically sealed xenon gas holder, designated mint/gem mint/pristine/superduperpristine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We have lost our way. Mine is better than yours because we measured it with an electron microscope and it is 2 atoms closer to dead center than yours. you lose! It's for people who can't find appreciation in the cards anymore and need something to OCD about. A the grading companies picked up on it and make big $$$ by splitting hairs so you can pay 10 times more for a gem mint 10 than a mint 9 and no one can visually see any difference in the two cards. Just trust them that the extra 80,000 dollars you are paying is because THEY can tell a difference. People are not buying cards anymore, they are buying a number. By the way, I have the number 5 available for purchase for the next few days only at a special price, just 60,000 dollars. Get it now. the number 5, doesn't come around very often, the number 4 sold for 55,000 just a few weeks ago, this number is a steal for 60,000, it is graded a PSA Mantle, should have been graded a Gehrig, but we feel we got jobbed on the grade. No 5's graded Ruth are known to exists, most are low grade Applings, so seize this rare opportunity. |
