I find myself wishing that I lived in a different tax bracket after seeing this catalog

This has to be the best Gehrig auction ever.

Yep. The concurrent Sotheby's baseball auction is also full of items that would put a noticeable dent in most saviings accounts.

Not much in either auction to float my boat... but good luck to the bidders.

The estimates..

Wow

They had a big baseball auction about 6 or 7 years ago, and they got some very good prices for the items that I was fruitlessly chasing. But these estimates are really high. I guess we'll soon know how far off they are.

The Hunt Auction site is almost zero help with registering for this auction. Christies registration process has proved more difficult for me than getting my passport. Also, having the auctioneer bidding on behalf of sellers is a sore point, even though that bidding is only up to the reserve. All things considered, I may sit this one out. So much for ease of use and trust. Oh, they also ask me how much I plan on spending in their auction when I TRY to register. I've been bidding in sports auction for more years than I like to admit. This registration process may be the worst I've seen.

I was later able to complete the registration process with the aid of a helpful Christie's employee in the line of full disclosure.

I hear you. But, once you get your account straightened out, the bidding is very smooth. And you are eligible to bid on some fantastic auctions of rare antiquities, fine art, collectible watches, and on and on.

Be very careful for what you wish.

The tax brackets are not etched in stone! :D

Also be aware that unless you pick up your items, shipping can be quite high.
