I just got this signed cover on ebay.

This is for my 500 HR club collection. I now have all of them except Ruth and Foxx.

I checked on newspapers.com, and the Giants returned to Lakewood NJ on Apr 3, 1944, after playing an exhibition game in Baltimore, and Ott was quoted in that day's newspaper. Then on Apr 5th, they played an exhibition game in Lakewood, against the Red Sox.
