Andy Cooper Opinion

Recently lucked into a scorecard from 1937 that appears to be signed by 15 players from the Monarchs and Cubans. It has already been sent to be authenticated but I'm fairly nervous about it and looking for opinions to possibly ease my mind.

Was only able to find one photo with a Copper auto but it was just his printed last name and then there's his draft card. Does anyone know of any other examples to compare?

Amazing find it good, would love to see other autographs from the Program. The photo you posted was certed by PSA. I believe Keating's book had another example. There really isn't much out there for Mr. Cooper. I know that another member poster one for sale, but I think it may be uncerted/failed authentication.

Could be a great find . As Frank said seeing the whole piece could help . It looks to be in great condition for almost 85 years old . It will be interesting to see if it gets authenticated because it seems TPAs are hesitant to certify any of those ultra rare HOFers unless they are on legal documents or have irrefutable provenance .
Good Luck !

I have a Cooper that is spot on to the one in Keatings book (in my safe box somewhere) that I bought from Wayne Stivers (https://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=248229). I gave it to Bill Corcoran when he came to my house to authenticate my collection a few years back. At that time Corcoran and Keating had to agree on the rare ones. They turned it down. So either kevin now feels the exemplar in the book is wrong and the one in the above picture is right (as it had a PSA and was in Clean Sweep and looks nothing like mine) or I'm not sure if they like you say won't OK any

I was thinking about yours when this posted....interested to see what happens. Also, JSA may be authenticating the OP's Cooper and not PSA. Should be interesting to see what happens at the end.

This what I picked up from RYM several months ago of the Philadelphia Royal Giants. I asked JSA to take a look at it at a Valley Forge show several months ago. Sorry I don't have a smaller photo to link, but the link to the auction should do the trick.

Thanks everyone for your input. Have to say it doesn't have me feeling too optimistic lol. I resized some images to share here. My hope is there are enough identifiable signatures and features to where they feel comfortable on the Cooper. I'll make sure to keep you all updated.

Wow. Nice piece. I would say TPA’s are reluctant to “certify” pieces unless they are selling them then everything is all good.

I would contact Jim Stinson. This is his expertise:). I just found this on Christy's auction.

I would say it is likely authentic based on the signed exemplar on the draft card. The printed last name does not help much. The other signatures on the program make it very likely that he indeed signed it in my opinion.

Both of the signed photos were originally part of the Fujita Collection auctioned by Sotheby's in 2007

Here is a slightly different one

Another lot with signed photos

That third one is the team photo that I own. I have been looking for more information about this, so thank you!

Just wanted to check in and give an update. I received word from Heritage that PSA has authenticated. Thanks again to everyone who gave their opinion.

tazdmb 01-17-2022 01:46 PM

Wow, thanks for the update.....time to start saving.

Looking good so far on the auction above estimate.

tazdmb 02-19-2022 06:29 AM

Yeah, I was leading bidder-but I am now out. Oh well-can't win (buy) them all.

tazdmb 02-28-2022 06:33 AM

Anyone on here win this? If so, congrats!
