JUST FOR FUN: Which MLB Player was born closest to your birthday?

Using BaseballResearch.Com,

I found that Jim Tracy (DOB: 12/31/55) was born closest to me (01/06/56)

just another useless waste of time? Or more fanatical research?

.

HRBAKER 09-01-2020 09:14 PM

Jim Aducci was born the same day I was.

steve B 09-01-2020 09:28 PM

How do you do that search?

edtiques 09-02-2020 05:31 AM

Mike Mason was born on 11/21/1958. My DOB is 11/20/1958.

Steve, just ask "What baseball player was born on your birthday"on Google. It will bring up a link to Baseball Almanac which lists all the players born in your birth year.

Jim65 09-02-2020 06:32 AM

I was born April 15, 1965, closest MLB players are Craig Worthington April 17, 1965 and Jeff DeWillis April 13, 1965.

Former NHL star Kevin Stevens was born the same day as me.

commishbob 09-02-2020 06:43 AM

Orioles(yeah!) pitcher Jeff Schneider and Twins/Padres utility infielder Chuck Baker were born the day after I was.

Astros/Giants 2nd baseman Rob Andrews, with whom I share a name, was born six days after me.

Edited to add...a bit of research on BR's sister sites told me that not a single player in MLB, NBA, NFL, or NFL history was born on the same day as I was. But Shoelass Joe died exactly a year before I was born.

Jack Voigt 5/17/66 - Me 5/16/66
Hoped for a better name!
I do have the same birthdate as Billy Martin only 38 years later.

Steve- someone already gave you one option, but that will only tell you who was born on the same Date of any year.

On BaseballResearch.Com, click on the link 'Happy Birthday/Born on this Day' - then plug your date in the search and, if nobody was born that day (the results show the year each player was born), search the day before and the day after and so on.

Kind of fun, I thought.

Nobody on my day and year but Don Eddy was born one day before me.

bnorth 09-02-2020 06:40 PM

Same day as Bret Boone. 4/6/69 Easter Sunday.

steve B 09-02-2020 07:36 PM

Jose Roman... same day.

nebboy 09-02-2020 07:42 PM

More players died on and around my birthday:confused:

Cliff Bowman 09-02-2020 08:32 PM

MLB player Bobby Rose, who I'm not familiar with, was born one day after me. Musician Billy Corgan was born three days after me forty miles away. And in the, uh... entertainment business, Fallon was born two days before me.

earlywynnfan 09-03-2020 04:00 PM

Chris Turner born same day.

My "I guess I'm old now" moment was when the Indians got Travis Fryman. Excellent player for the Tigers, the papers were writing about how he was pretty much "Over the Hill" and "nearly done." I looked him up and he is two days younger than me. Ouch!

judsonhamlin 09-03-2020 04:42 PM

I'm halfway between Chuck Knoblauch and Derrick May. So basically a misplayed short fly to shallow left and then a bad throw to first.

56Horsehide 09-10-2020 08:54 PM

Same Month, Day and Year: Kent Tekulve

Piman58 09-12-2020 09:50 AM

Alan Fowlkes was born 4 days after me in August of 1958.
Bob Gamble died on the day I was born. He was a one game wonder in 1888 in the American Association. Pitched one game and lost, giving up 10 runs in a complete game. walking 3 while striking out 2. He also committed two errors to aid his defeat.

Amazingly he appears on an Old Judge card.

tedzan 09-17-2020 06:00 PM

Walter Johnson was born on November 6th....I was born on November 5th.

There were too many to name but Bruce Sutter was a notable on my birthday (1/8) in 1953.

jiw98 09-20-2020 09:17 PM

Ricky Jones from the Baltimore Orioles.

PowderedH2O 09-23-2020 08:37 AM

I was born on the same day as former pitcher Barry Manuel, and we were born less than 50 miles apart. I talked to him at a Spring Training game many years ago and I showed him my driver's license and we got a chuckle out of it.

Assuming you mean exact day and not merely the date, which obviously would return tons of results, Alan Benes was the day before me. Jan 21st 1972.

Bigdaddy 09-23-2020 09:00 PM

Sandy Alomar Jr. is one day older than I am.

If I have to amend birth year, Jake Arrieta was born 3 days before me. However closest to my birthdate is Jeremy Hefner, whom I've never heard of, was born two days after I was. I'm going to play Price Is Right rules.

James "Buster" Douglas, onetime undisputed Heavyweight Champion of the World, was born on the very same day that I was born. April 7, 1960. He upset Mike Tyson in Tokyo. Don't know if he could swing a bat though....
