Bill Daniels Sports...

What's your opinion....

I've had two dealings with him over a 13 year period.....I know what I think, how 'bout you?

7nohitter 07-15-2013 03:36 PM

Really? You're all on his payroll???

Howe’s Hunter 07-15-2013 03:45 PM

Never heard of the guy.

Did a Google search and went to his site, but don't even see any vintage baseball cards listed. Trade card section, but the oldest baseball, or anything, seems to be about 1977.

I'm not on his payroll, but then again, he's not getting any money from me either.

I like good sarcasm as much as the next guy. However, if I don't have any idea what it is about, or means, it's less entertaining :).

Big autograph guy.
Advertised in SCD for years, bought a few things from him.
Don't remember any issues.
Didn't he sue PSA/DNA over an auction lot with a LOA or am I confused as usual?

GoldenAge50s 07-15-2013 05:50 PM

Hey Andy---

Ever notice how your Nolan Ryan avatar looks just like John Lithgow?

(No opinion on Daniels!)

7nohitter 07-15-2013 06:00 PM

Fred! You're the first to notice...or, at least. point it out...but yes I have noticed that!!

If that were the case, you wouldn't have posted that snide comment after your initial post....

7nohitter 07-15-2013 07:35 PM

Hi Scott...

I'm sorry that you percieved that as snide. Was just a comment.

Tao_Moko 07-15-2013 07:35 PM

Why do I feel like I'm being spoken to like I'm back in junior high?

I'm sure people are dying to help you out now!

7nohitter 07-15-2013 07:44 PM

Thank you, Scott.

Andrew,

No, I have not had any interactions with the person you mentioned.

Sorry that I can't be of help here.

Best Regards,

Eric

7nohitter 07-15-2013 07:48 PM

Thanks, Eric. I appreciate your comment.

Same recollection here, except I don't remember the lawsuit part (although I'm confused as usual too--just about other things). Isn't/wasn't he from Indiana?

I almost always remember anyone who burned me or was a jerk, and this guy does not come to mind.

7nohitter 07-15-2013 07:59 PM

Todd-Yes, Indiana...good memory!

everyone does things differently

Buit if you had a good or a bad (which based on your posts is the more resaonable assumption) experience with Mr. Daniels you might have been better off spelling out some of your concerns on the 1st post

So far tonight you have accused at least one person of being on his payroll (although that response is now removed), been rude to me (an apology would be very appreciated), and created perceptions of being snide and rude to people who just wanted you to provide more details.

All you have done is create a riddle and no one has publicly given you anything you have wanted plus you have shown contempt for people asking for more details. You would have been far better served with either a link to a story or just spelling out some of the details not to gain support but just so everyone knows why you are asking that question. Especially when your first post ends with "I know what I think, how about you?".

If you spelled out your details to start, you might have everyone on your side, or at least closer to understanding where you are coming from

Rich

7nohitter 07-15-2013 08:06 PM

Rich-

My apologies for any perceived slight.

I really was just curious about interactions other members have had over the years with this seller.

Rich Klein 07-15-2013 08:14 PM

I bought some Perez/Steele postcards from him awhile back via eBay.
Was a problem free transaction.

wrapperguy 07-15-2013 11:27 PM

Daniels

Bought a Perez Steele Celebration card of Campanella from him many years ago. Problem free.

drcy 07-15-2013 11:31 PM

I went to college with a Bill Jones and he seemed reputable. Does that help?

For the record, I am not on Bill Jones' payroll.

drcy 07-15-2013 11:33 PM

Just trying to bring clarity to this thread.

deadballfreaK 07-15-2013 11:43 PM

Bought a fairly high dollar item from him about 6 months ago. No problems. I was happy.

timn1 07-15-2013 11:52 PM

I confess-- We're all on his payroll.

You got us.

don't put me in with Lefty, Happy, Swede, Buck, Sleepy, Shoeless, Chick and maybe some others with real names. I stand with Eddie and Ray-Ray. ;)

tonyo 07-16-2013 03:22 PM

no transactions, but....

I started collecting a modern auto'ed set about a year or two ago. He had about a dozen signed cards from the set that had been on BIN OBO for three or four years. I made an offer for all of them at probably less than 50% of his asking price. We traded maybe 3 or 4 ebay messages that I likely considered in the spirit of negotiating. Then without warning or notification he banned me. Took me by surprise a bit. Just checked and all those cards are still available BIN OBO.

not saying it was good or bad, just puzzling.

murcerfan 07-16-2013 03:33 PM

...must be related to McKee (insert winkey icon)

Clydewally 07-17-2013 10:46 AM

I have bought some Gartlans and bats from him over the years. The bats some time ago and Gartlans fairly recently. No problems.
