Posted By: Patrick McMenemy
I took the liberty of starting another pickup thread since the last one takes forever to load.

Received this beauty in the mail today from TBob. Many thanks for parting with the 1912 Zeenut Burch. It's my third 1912 Zeenut. Ironically, I have one each of the 3 back types now.

Patrick

As you know that's one tough card.
I picked up a couple more from Lionel's collection, can't seem to get enough of them whether they are T cards or E cards.
Also raw Obaks are still a great buy.

It took a little longer than I suspected because the others seemed to turn up pretty easily in my price range whereas the Bescher Hands In Air seemed to demand a little higher dollar.
I'm particularly excited because this one is from the Lionel Carter Collection. It makes it special to me to have come from Mr. Carter's collection.

[img][/img]

Edited to add: I probably won't break this one out.

Posted By: T206Collector
...this card (and a couple of other signed ones I bought) have made me at least pseudo-curious about collection T201's. The signatures just make this card complete, in my humble opinion. I have never seen a dual-signed pre-war card before, and am wondering whether anyone else ever has?

Posted By: Bob
I don't think you'll ever find a multi player card from the prewar era with multiple autographs like your T201. That is definitely a great card. How did you pick it up, private sale, auction, ebay?

Posted By: T206Collector
...in a private sale from an autograph dealer. I primarily try to acquire signed T206 cards, but his small collection of signed T201's was too good to pass up. The signed Meyers-Doyle was the only one dual-signed.

Posted By: S Gross
I know there's a new pick up thread, so I don't mind hyjacking the Cobb "at second base" photo with a ol' baseball story:

I was playing summer college ball (long ago), and was on the bench (like normal). Our infield had a base runner caught off between first and second. However, the infield was putzing aroung trying to tag this guy out, in a four or five throw run-down. Finally, our CF charges in grabs the ball, mid-air, and the runner at the same time, and tackles him (holding the ball, a legit out). BTW, the CF was 6' something 250 lb, who also played line man at Bethune-Cookman. I guess you had to be there, but it was a GREAT play !!!!!

Posted By: leon
Great story about the center fielder.....since we are OT here's one...when I was in the Marine Corps (long ago) we were playing tackle football...At the time I was wearing glasses..and still do. It was the last play of the game and we were up by more than a touchdown....again, time was already called. The guy running with the ball was headed to the end zone and only I was between him and it. I dove into his knees and tackled him. Five stiches to my eyebrow later I was still happy he didn't get in (we would have won either way though)......oh the days of being young.....sorry, I had to throw this story in somewhere....regards
