Will PSA/DNA grade taped autograph?

Hello all! Do any of you know if PSA/DNA will grade a taped over autograph?
One of their quarterly special requires grading to qualify for the discounted price.
Thanks for any guidance!

Yes, tape over an auto (not an auto taped to a card) will likely result in a psa 1 grade.

I do see a $20 special, but I don't believe that includes a card grade, only auto authentication

Sorry for any confusion... auto grade, not card

I appreciate the info! Under the "Learn More" button, it states all of their criteria to qualify, one of which is " Please make sure to select autograph grading on the submission form or it will not qualify for this special."

Interesting, not sure how it would come back if there is tape over it. Keep me (us) posted.

The whole "auto grade" thing is new to me, and is certainly confusing. Some post heart attack, stroke, and death bed sigs get 10s, while vintage ballpoint autos that have light ink get 6s.

I just want the discount!! :D

Pretty good chance that they'll miss the tape, rendering it a moot point.

Thank you for your unbridled contribution to this thread.

They will grade it. I have seen it dozens of times.

You're welcome!

Yeah, they'll grade it. It was really just "tongue in cheek". I actually like PSA's Photo and Autograph Authentication. Wish I could say the same for Cards, but the millions of dollars being bilked from collectors (and their turning a blind eye) has soured me on their whole enterprise.

Hard to believe there was a day when scotch tape over autographs was deemed desirable. But that said... these types are probably the most authentic within the hobby.
