There ya are..:p

I sent him a nice little message too.

barrysloate 09-10-2010 12:29 PM

There are so many things funny with it I don't know where to start: "I purchased this at auction in 1996..." What auction? And who professionally graded it? This guy just makes up anything he wants.

Jim VB 09-10-2010 12:31 PM

He declined my offer of $1.00.

Too bad. I would have been willing to overpay, with cash money!

(And, why are all the "good" Wagners only available with Sovereign backs?

vintagechris 09-10-2010 12:32 PM

Yea, I think if I was trying to sell a "$100,000" card, I would pay $100 for a nice scanner. Do you think these people really think this will work? I mean really.

HRBAKER 09-10-2010 12:35 PM

:) He bought a $100,000 card as an investment but his camera is not a "good one."

Leon 09-10-2010 12:54 PM

hey...

Hey, he's just down the street from one of my fledgling restaurants in Arlington. I wonder if he would take a chicken fried steak dinner for it? (maybe with some extra gravy oozing over it!!). I think our cost on the steak itself is about 40 cents. I may want some change back.

iggyman 09-10-2010 12:56 PM

I think the hope is that one of the Kardashian girls sees the auction.......don't smirk, it could happen.

Lovely Day...

martyogelvie 09-10-2010 01:00 PM

iggyman,
that was funny!

Orions father 09-10-2010 01:08 PM

Just emailed him that I am interested in the card (HAHAHAHA) but I needed to know if he would stand by the info he provided to ebay that it is an original. Cant wait for his response.

T206Collector 09-10-2010 01:14 PM

Card sold...

...for $1,000. Who's laughing now?

iggyman 09-10-2010 01:23 PM

I'll make some calls and see which of the three (four if you count mom) purchased it.......TTYL.

Lovely Day...

GrayGhost 09-10-2010 01:40 PM

WHAT????????????. I can't imagine ANYone would purchase that for 1000.00. This HAS to be a joke. This guy needs to be turned in.

Leon, you're a restauranteur?

Leon 09-10-2010 02:04 PM

$1000

If someone bought that for $1000 (and I highly doubt they did) then they might have just learned a $1000 lesson. I wish that was my most expensive one (not to make light of a grand, it's a lot of money to me)

Leon 09-10-2010 02:05 PM

sort of...

I would have bid if the video game instructions included were for Mike Tyson's Punch Out!! :D

GoSoxBoSox 09-10-2010 07:19 PM

What would idiots be without guys like this in their club?

FUBAR 09-10-2010 07:25 PM

It's professionally graded but where is the holder??? I wouldn't mind buying it and putting in with my stack of Sovereign Wagners! And to think some dope paid $1000 for a reprint!

tbob 09-10-2010 07:57 PM

Must have been that free shipping offer that sealed the deal. :D

CW 09-10-2010 08:05 PM

Yep, this one was funnier than most.

I like how it was graded by SBA. Such Bullshit Authentication?

And I love the final line: "It would make a great gift to any collector."

Yes, only 70 exist, it's THE holy grail of the entire hobby that is baseball
cards, a PSA 1 will run you $200K +, and, oh yeah.... makes a great gift.

GrayGhost 09-10-2010 08:14 PM

Its not even a reprint. Its a fantasy card, as to my knowledge, NOBODY has ever seen a Sovereign Wagner;)

ctownboy 09-10-2010 08:44 PM

Iggyman,

From what I have heard about the Kardashian sisters, poor Honus wouldn't have a cahnce with them because he was a white athlete. Now if the card were of Lamar Odom, Reggie Bush or Miles Austin.....

David

teetwoohsix 09-10-2010 09:18 PM

I guess there is no way to verify that this really did sell for $1,000.00, is there?

It just doesn't make any sense. Can't you buy these reprint fakes for a dollar or two?

He must have bought it from himself

Really the only way to verify would be to contact the buyer after he left the seller feedback. Even then though it could be a friend of his.

RichardSimon 09-13-2010 11:36 AM

I would bet that is a sale that won't be completed.

You can't fix stupid.

Kawika 09-15-2010 02:42 AM

No need to start yet another bogus T206 Wagner thread so submitted for your approval is this latest bit of scammery: http://tinyurl.com/2ch9rvc
THE CARD WAS IN A TOY TRUNK INSIDE AN OLD JACK IN THE BOX TOY WITH THE CLOWN OR WHAT EVER WAS IN IT THAT POPPED UP WHEN YOU TURNED THE CRANK.

GrayGhost 09-15-2010 04:33 AM

A Big giveaway w these clowns to me is the fact they don't spend money to get a card authenticated.

But, the two Indian head pennies and the clown that pops up out of the toy in the trunk are good proof that this is a "period" 'Wagner. :D

Matthew H 09-15-2010 09:14 AM

"If its a reprint, then it's a really old one!"

I'll never get tired of that line.

Doug 09-15-2010 09:20 AM

For some reason every time I see one of these auctions this guy comes to mind. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ytesp...eature=related

I love how his 1977 Topps football cards are slabbed but not the Wagner.

dstraate 09-16-2010 08:30 AM

Here's the latest:

This one came out of a Jack in the Box with an Indian Head Penny (He's not saying it's real mind you...)

Doug 09-16-2010 08:41 AM

kcohen 09-16-2010 09:02 AM

Wasn't Ebay requiring at one time that certain cards, e.g. T206 Wagner, 52 Mantle, had to be graded in order to list?

I thought so, but to enforce such rules they would be losing listing fees and god forbid that happen...
